I can understand your enthusiasm - I felt the same several years ago when I started with MTW

Don't go screaming up the tech tree too fast - I understand that rapid development of cities can lead to high squalor (IIRC ) and that in turn leads to public order problems. Not good !

I also echo Quietus - play the prologue.

I'm not sure if their are any unit tech trees for RTW like there were for MTW - does anyone know

If there are, take a look at them and work out which units you'd like to play with and maybe formulate a building plan to be able to field your favourite armies - just an idea.

Above all, play around with the game and find what works for you and what you like.
