What foreign languages do you speak?!

I can understand lots of Italian and French but I havent used em for more than 7 yrs for Italian and 9 yrs for French so I cant really speak anymore. Planning to take some fast business courses for those two to remember them again...

I'm American, so of course I only speak English (silly multi-cultural Europeans )! I can count to 10, order beer, and curse in French, Spanish, and German. My high school French and German allow me to sometimes decipher written words, but I'd be lost if I had to speak or listen to anything beyond hello, goodbye, yes, or no.

Spanish is my first language followed by Italian, and to tell the truth, English I do not speak but read perfectly, but writing is a real mental challenge.

Save the awful accent I can read, write, speak and understand English very well. Studied German for three years but never perfected it. Although all isn't lost, I can't speak or write it fluently.

I've had affairs with Arabic, Kurdish and Greek. Can read/write the Greek alphabet and read most of Cyrillic.

Only under one certain condition, which shall remain untold, may I get interested in studying some French.

Sad, but true. The main problem is that we have no one to practice with. And unless you are exposed regularly to a different language, you will forget it (or revert to a horrible accent). If I had taken Spanish, I could watch soccer, game shows, and novellas on Telemundo to stay sharp. I still watch, but I just can't understand a word that's being said. Adds to the fun, really.

Well apart from English I am passable in German. I can also 'speak' a bit of latin (well actually, I can't, but I can translate it), as well as a tiny amount of ancient Greek.

You can understand Latin without knowing a Romance Language. Fascinating.
I presume you can only understand Latin in the neuter gender not masculine and/or feminine??? right??

I used to be able to speak fluent french when I was at school but I has all gone out of my head now. So therefore I can now only speak English.

I speak English, obviously, though I am told my accent is terrible. I also know a few words of German and French, but not much. On one occasion, I almost managed to convince a Francaise that I was French. If only I hadn't forgotten the word for stairs.

I am quite fluent in english and speak fairly good swedish, even though I forget words every now and then. I speak passable french, but it's deteriorating due to lack of practice. I took two years of japanese at the university, so I'm down with grammar and all, but my vocabulary is woefully inadequate.

I know some words and sentences in german, italian and spanish, and could conceivably communicate in those languages in certain situations.

(My native tongue, finnnish, isn't a foreign language, so it doesn't count)

Can speak English, Dutch, German and French well. Enough Italian, (modern) Greek, Japanese, and Spanish to make myself clear. Can read Latin and old Greek.

English, and pretty good Spanish. And I can say the basics (Hello, I don't speak *insert language*, what?, You speak english?, and **** I said English) in Russian, French, Italian, Japanese, Arabic, and Farsi. That's all you really need to get by.
