    Default US Open

Has anyone else been watching the US Tennis Open? There have already been some quite interesting matches so far. And if you are British you will know that we are not doing very well with two of our 3 best players having been knocked out in the first round.

well, at least andy won't have to worry about getting owned by federer in the finals again.

edit: let's see if muller can actually do some damage in the tourney (beyond knocking off roddick, that is).

Roddick is already out? I'll have to check this...

EDIT: I checked, and WOW. Every set had a tie-breaker... at least Andrew Murray is still in. (haha edyz, he knocked out some Romanian guy) Maybe he will be the one who gets smashed by Federer in the end.

to bad Roddick's out, would have liked to see him play Nalbandian, or even later Federer.
Well as for the Dutch in US open .. there's only one in the tournement , nut iI don't really have my hopes high for him.
Would be surprised if he made it to the second round

EDIT : just read in the paper that our Dutch player did actually go through to the second round.

now that roddick is out, we americans must pull for scoville jenkins, mostly because he has the best name ever. plus, i want nadal to lose anyway.

edit: oh well, looks like he's done. but scoville put on a good show against the #2 seed. i'll keep my eye on this kid in the future.

Well Muller was probably exhausted or something like it, cause he lost big to an other american, forgot the name at the moment ; 6-1 6-1 6-4...

genepri's a good player, but not that good. muller wasn't exactly exhausted. i mean, sometimes you're on, sometimes you're off. muller was definitely off against genepri. or in other words, muller was more on than any other day in his life when he played roddick.

in most sports, generally, it's hard to get "up" mentally for the next game when you've just completed a huge upset. i'm sure a similar thing happens in tennis.

yeah that could be it , but now Muller hasn't really done anything ''special'' it's even more sour for Roddick that he got beaten by Muller. I mean I don't think Roddick would have had major problems with Genepri - or so I also thought with Muller ;) , so he would have made it through the first rounds and we would have seen some high quality games.

So with respect towards Muller and Genepri , I would have liked the tournement better if Roddick was still in - it would have resulted in some good matches .

Robert Ginepri, who just happens to be Muller's doubles partner.

what a nice team they'll be , probably still hating each other for their match the day before yesterday.
Would be kind of akward , playing with each other just after you've knowcked your partner out of the same tournement.

Well anyway , nothing special happenen yesterday or today - concerning mens tennis ?
No favorites being knocked out or anything ?

not much.. paradorn srichaphan (sp? lol) beat the #6 seed (davydenko) yesterday. technically it's an upset, because srichaphan is unseeded and ranked like.. 50 or 60 in the world or something. but he used to be ranked in the top 10, and i never really hear much about davydenko..

moya got knocked out, but i think he's more of a clay court specialist (could be wrong). oh and ancic was beaten also, by some eastern-european guy i don't remember.

i think everything went according to plan on the women's side.

two big matches today that should quite entertaining:

    nadal/blake
-i'm hoping the j-block can lift blake over nadal! i hate his capri pants!

    agassi/berdych
-could be a blowout, because berdych is so uneven.. but if the same berdych that beat nadal in cincinatti and federer in the olympics shows up, could be a good show!
now i'm here, and history is vindicated.

I would have thought Srichaphan would beat Davydenko - who imh is over the hill, although I can't really explain the ranking :)

And I saw Moya play now I think about it , and yes he is a graval specialist so US open with it's hard court would be harder , since it's allot faster than gravel.
To bad Ancic's out... I always liked seeing him play

Well thanks anyway for the info on today's matches , and I really want to see Nadal lose too, cause I hate his red - far to tight- shirt...
And seeing Agassi play is always good.

damn, bulgaria is playing sweden in a worldcup qualifier (about the kick off). the czech republic andd romania are on after it. several college football games are coming on (nothing special though, notre dame and pitt tonight should be good). and the us open is on.. too much choice!!!

soccer right BJ ? since you were talking about Romania and czech republic, as a matter of fact Holland is playing Armenia tonight , for the world cup qualification.
And they're in the same group as Rom. and Czech rep. , I hope the Czech republic loses big time, so that we Dutchmen could relax a bit , since the CR is just 1 point behind Holland in the qualification group...

    first set to blake, 6-4.

edit: looks like blake is going to advance! awesome! agassi/blake will rock, if they both get that far, which they should.

also, looks like romania is going to beat the czechs. up 2-0 in the 68th minute.

congrats to Blake ! but still Nadal is more of a gravel player, still impressed by Blake though
And my day can't get any better... if the czechs lose then we're well in the World cup already ! without evcen having to win Andorra

So I'm sorry to say this BJ but I think the czechs are gonna have to try and get in via the play offs :D, either way you're going to see some good soccer
