Does it matter as long as it says "Green & Black's" on the label? They have been bought out by Cadbury Schweppes, but hopefully the new owners will Let Well Alone.

Things to avoid: Hershey's chocolate. Why did the man ever stick with his sour milk recipe? It's just wrong. One day Belgian soldiers will roll through the US giving out candy bars, and the country will be lost in an afternoon.

I prefer Lindt to Green and Blacks myself.

Anyway, it has to be dark.

When I think about their chocolate, I feel sorry for Americans.

Dark chocolate all the way. Who needs milk chocolate when you've got a glass of milk on hand?

There's hope yet. American beer has recently emerged from the dark ages of bland, watery pilsners. So we got that going for us... which is nice.

I like white chocolate better but don’t eat it as often as I do milk chocolate.

I think most Euro chocolate is better than what is common in the US but lets face it, chocolate is like pizza and sex, even when it is of poor quality it is still good.

Amen to that. My parents went to San Francisco for a week in April (last year), and brought back Hershleys. I was almost sick. Cadburys Milk Chocolate is the best. Nothing better than that. Although some Bournville (Cadburys Dark Chocolate for you uneducated ones) is nice every now and then.

Your parents went to San Fran and brought back Hershey's? They should have gotten Ghirardelli chocolate, based in San Fran, owned by Lindt & Sprüngli.

Hershey's is utility chocolate, it's not going to stack up against the Euro brands. Good enough for a quick fix, but that's about it.

Dark chocolate for me, just tastes better.

I prefer milk chocolate, but will eat dark or white if there is nothing else, although white is my least favourite.

Ah ... chocolate! I love it, as I love contrast-- so for me, any kind is great. Since the thread calls for a favorite however, I'd have to say white chocolate. Aside from just liking the flavor (particularly when it has those lil nuggety crunchies in it ... what are those, anyway?), I favor the not-so-usual. I like dark chocolate over milk chocolate, but usually eat both, alternating between them. I notice the subtleties in flavor more when I relish one kind, and then the other, and then another of the first, and then the other again, and ... ha! Yum ... .

Until I was 33 or so, I would buy a three pound box of See's chocolates (mixed) just before my birthday and eat them with milk, to the exclusion of other food, until the box was gone. My birthday is the day before Christmas, so I'd be sure to finish the box before Christmas so as to be ready for our family's extravagant Christmas spread. The last year I engaged in this delectable ritual however, I gained 15 pounds over the holidays . I realized that it would be best to forgoe this indulgence of my youth. So now I just get a one pound box .

I see the answer has already been provided: honey and nougat. Scrumptious. What's in the nougat I wonder ... ?

Oh, how I wish you were right!

For me, "The holidays" begin with Thanksgiving (Late November) and end after New Year's Day. In all fairness, I was working too much at the time (and compensating with 2-3 large cafe mochas a day, and a pint of Hagen Dasz at night after dinner), and not exercising nearly enough. But the birthday ritual certainly didn't help. I cut out mochas and ice cream as part of my New Year's resolution the following year, and was back down to my previous weight within 2 months. It wasn't that hard to adapt to small coffees and frozen yogurt (Hagen Dasz) instead.

You remember that thread that had the personality test? It said that "Mastermind" personality types have a tendency to binge when under extreme pressure. For me, increased chocolate and ice cream consumption are sure-fire indicators of elevated stress.
