    Default Quick Question...

If I have a Church (+1 morale), Monastary (+1 moreal), and Reliquary (+2 morale) in the same province - is the bonus cumulative? In other words do my units get +4 morale?

If so do all units get the bonus or is it just for religious units??

    thanks

Yes, they do. Bonuses like morale and valour are accumulative. But weapon and armour upgrades aren't. For example if in one province you had an armourer (+1 armour), armourers guild (+2 armour), armourers workshop(+3 armour) and master armourer (+4 armour) your units wouldnt have +10 armour, instead they have +4. The same goes for weapons.

The bonus is cumulative. and as far as i know applies to all units produced there. But i am not sure if morale effects religious units.

    Great!

    Thanks for the quick replies.

I knew that the armor and weapons bonuses were not cumulative (thanks though *grin*).

Yes, I agree, morale is immaterial for religous units - but valour bonuses from several buildings apply to specific units only (such as spies, horse units etc.) - so I thought I better check - JIC...

you know what they say about "ASSUME".

    thanks again

But there's some bug about it though. You get +2 for every building for a total of +6 morale in total, while you should get +8. Multiply the shown value with 2 to get the combat morale bonus.
V&V morale factors is shown correctly in-game though.

I found the following to be true:

I looked around the forums for a definitive answer on this question, but haven't found it (I'm sure it here somewhere.) I did some experimenting on the issue of religious buildings and morale and found then using the F1 key on the battle map and following to be true:

Church only: +2 morale on battlefield
    Church+Monastery: +2 morale
Monastery only (destroyed church): +2 morale
    Church+Monastery+Reliquary: +4 morale
    Church+Monastery+Reliquary+Cathedral: +6 morale
    Church+Cathedral: +6 morale
Cathedral only (destroyed church): +6 morale

According to the guides, its Church +1, Monastery +1, Reliquary +2, and Cathedral +3. So it seems to me that you take the highest level of building you've got and multiply it by 2. Thus, there is no added benefit from a monastery until you build a reliquary because the monastery bonus is at the same level as the church. If you have a cathedral, adding a monastery or reliquary will add nothing either.

So, basically the morale bonuses don't stack. I stopped building Monasteries until I could follow them up with a Reliquary, right away... as the Monastery doesn't do anything (unless your Church is destroyed).

Whoa, some necromancy afoot! It's like it's Halloween or something!

    Welcome to the Org, bunt0025!

For the upgrades, the clues are in the build prod file, column 17. I believe the UPGRADE_*(N) is like a cap, the highest one will take effect. So with vanilla MTW/VI, the values are:
    Church: UPGRADE_MORALE(1)
    Monastery: UPGRADE_MORALE(1)
    Reliquary: UPGRADE_MORALE(2)
    Cathedral: UPGRADE_MORALE(3)

However, the added benefits come from the population happiness bonuses, which do stack:
    Church: +20%
    Monastery: +10%
    Reliquary: +30%
    Cathedral: +40%

Edit-> I forgot, the religious conversion bonuses stack as well, so there is even more benefit to having these building:
    Church: 10% conversion rate
    Monastery: 10%
    Reliquary: n/a
    Cathedral: 15%

The reason why Weapon & Armour upgrades are not accumulative, is that each subsequent building REPLACES the previous one, therefore there is only ever one Armoury and one Blacksmith (?). Whereas, each religious building is in ADDITION to the last one, and you end up with 4 buildings.

    Interesting - Thanks.
