What do you (and Brits in particular) think of this British year-round car surveillance scheme? Every journey by every car will be monitored and timed, and the record will be held for two years. The Police National Computer in Hendon, North London, will store 35 million number-plate "reads" per day.

You guys must feel really safe now.

Unfortunately it is not and because Labour tends to put measures like this to the forefront of public debate I am also a member of Liberty a human rights pressure group which makes sure Labour can't get insane policies like this through.

Must be some nuclair powered computer to store all that data. Here in Holland we have them all over the freeway, and when the weather is good even manned mobile units, but the aim is more towards draining car-owners of their money rather then terrorism.

no, it's a smart way to catch the suicider bombers when the investigation starts after the suicide attack - a very good idea.
