I don't know about long term effects, but sex does help with nasal congestion. Something to do with blood flow and blood vessel dialation. Got an annoying head cold with a stuffy nose? Convince the missus to go at it.

Therapy helps, but screaming obscenities is cheaper.

Any type of exercise helps with nasal congestion in my experience.
