Default At least 13.97cm (5.5in) long, 2.69cm (1.06in) thick, without 'abnormal curvature'

Or so requires EU Regulation 2257/94 of the size of bananas.

So, in the last couple of days I've read here about banana-sizes, driving licences for the blind and the right to shoot Welshmen with a crossbow.

As I'm a great fan of silly laws and regulations, I was wondering if any of you can think of more good ones?

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Oooh! I have an idea! How about this: if some one dies while under a doctors care, the doctor should be held accountable for them dying! Regardless of the doctors actions, regardless of how the patient died. The family will be given all of the doctors possessions, and the doctors family will be sold into slavery.

Well, I think that it would work.

Yeh, because this is such a good reason to leave the EU.

Wasn't the banana thing just tabloid bunkum? And I thought it was a duty to shoot crosbows at Welshmen, not a right?

May I suggest annexation of Panama as our first move as United Scandinavia, to make sure that our bananas is left alone?
We are all aware that the senses can be deceived, the eyes fooled. But how can we be sure our senses are not being deceived at any particular time, or even all the time? Might I just be a brain in a tank somewhere, tricked all my life into believing in the events of this world by some insane computer? And does my life gain or lose meaning based on my reaction to such solipsism?

Peronally, I think Holland and Belgium should form a league of their own, dedicated to pot and beer... they could call it the "Flanderian Union."

Well, it seems from Commission Regulation (EC) No 2257/94 that Banana producing member states already had national regulations about the quality of bananas, which probably differed from each other. Thus, it can be said this EU regulation reduces beaurocracy instead of increasing it. BTW, it doesn't say 13.97cm, it says 14cm.

Must Resist bad pun, must resist.

So it seems the EU is setting up next to regulate the short arms of males in Europe by passing bad banana laws.

That was just pitful, but the dark side of the force drew me to making a very bad pun.
O well, seems like 'some' people decide to ruin a perfectly valid threat. Nice going guys... doc bean

No bank notes are legal tender in Scotland.

BUT but but you got the pound note after everybody else got rid of it.

The current rate of exchange is:

Bank of England pound sterling = 100 pennies.

Clydesdale bank pound sterling = 97 pennies.

Royal bank of Scotland pound sterling = 98 pennies.

Bank of Scotland pound sterling = 96 pennies.

A friend of mine was a professional wrestler who had a bout in Edinburgh. There were three in his party. My mates a bit of a card and loves a joke. When they approached the border, he says to the youngest in the group. (I think he was 16 or 17 years old)

    "Get your passport ready".

"What!" "Passport?" "I haven't got one!"

His other companion, quickly cottoned on.

"No matter, we'll hide you in the boot." (that's the trunk)

They stopped, and the young lad clambered into the boot.

Once past the border they let him out.

Did the same on the way back to civilization. (Yorkshire)

When he got home his dad asked him how he had fared.

"Oh I did ok, but next time I must remember my passport." and told him about hiding in the boot of the car.

His dad fell about laughing and called him a wassock.

Morale. Don't believe a word my mate tells you.

I once took the train from Newark to Edinburgh, when I got back all I had was Scottish notes. The car park ticket machine did not accept them, I'm lucky a cab driver took pity on me and exchanged a fiver with me. Gave me a 1-to-1 exchange rate even!
