Really? Naaah... Wait, you're right. I do need a sense of humor. After all, now I can laugh when Cartman says "you stupid Jew" because it's in a context of humor . Hahaha . And after all, since they mock everyone, that makes it even less racist, maybe they'll drop one about Scientology, that will balance out the jew comment .

Wow, I've never laughed so hard in my life haha hoohoo hehe...

To be honest, I think early South Park was crude, rude and pretty unfunny. The last few seasons however have been fine tuned to perfection, formulated or not they are better than ever. Talk about nail on the head political satire! To call it bigotted is missing the point. They systimatically rip the piss out of everyone. If you pick one line out of one episode, sure it will look totally unacceptable. I agree, but then there will be hundreds of instances where the exact opposite party is being torn into. Sometimes I think they go too far, but its my choice if I want to watch it or not, and I watch it knowing that theres a good chance I might be offended, my choice though. The whole thing with Cartman and the Jews is mocking anti-semitism rather than jewish people. Everyone hates Cartman, he is an evil minded little fascist... Watch the episode entitled, "The Passion of the Jew", its a mock up of "The Passion of the Christ" and completely destroys Mel Gibson's film and the anti-semitic sentiment that was around at the time. If you cant laugh off a silly satirical cartoon, however ridiculous it is, then you are are reacting similarly to the Danish Cartoon rioters ...

Looks as though more Scientologists are pushing their weight around about this whole thing:

HI EXCLUSIVE! SCIENTOLOGIST TOM CRUISE BLACKMAILS VIACOM...

SCIENTOLOGIST TOM CRUISE BLACKMAILS VIACOM INTO PULLING THE "TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET" EPISODE OF SOUTH PARK

Sources from inside Paramount and South Park Studios report that parent company Viacom pulled last night's scheduled repeat of the high-rated "Trapped in the Closet" episode after the humorless Scientologist movie star Tom Cruise threatened to cancel all publicity for Mission Impossible:3 if Comedy Central aired the episode that satirizes Scientology and mocks his sexuality again.

Not only is this the first time that the South Park creators have been officially censored in their ten hit seasons with Comedy Central, Viacom officials also reportedly ordered Matt Stone and Trey Parker not to discuss the reason why their episode was cancelled.

The South Park boys are said to be angry, but will probably get revenge with the manner in which they deal with Scientologist Isaac Hayes' departure from the show.

"Woodlands Critters' Christmas" ..... say no more. 'bout wet my pants laughing.

Bottom line is, if one finds it offensive? There are like 200 other channels to watch.

As for Scientology, it is not a religion - it is a composite of phsychologic data (from all of them) compiled to make a "feel good" presentation to the weak minded. The episode nailed it for what it is, that may be the reason Tommy is upset - that a cartoon flayed them simply by showing the truth about a wouldbe religion.

What I wonder is, did Hayes quit his contract because of his own conscience or was he told to do so by his "superiors" in the church?

Yet more fallout: the South Park creators respond.

So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our episode will NOT stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu!!!

Yes, let's live in a word where no one can be mocked, and all forms of humor that are not deemed as PC are censored.

    "Bigot"
One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.
Since it consistently mocks all groups, it can't be bigoted. If you say otherwise, you're arguing against the dictionary. If you want ot to use a different definition of the word, then that's your problem.

    Cool with me...

It would make the world a much better place too. People of different groups would laugh together instead of at each other, hate would go down, happyness would go up...

Perhaps comedians would start making jokes that don't have to be offensive to others...

Criticism of something is one thing. Hurtful mocking of it is another.

Very well, since you wish to avoid the brunt of my criticism and waddle in to semantics, I will indulge with you.

I withdraw my earlier statement of South Park being bigoted. It was clearly not that by the strict denotation of the word.

    -"non-constructive criticism"
    -not funny

Hippie. The world wouldn't improve in anyway; it would just be bland, boring and pathetic.

Red face Re: Chef Ditches South Park, Citing Religious Intolerance

Scientologists are weird, man. Really weird.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Cruise in birth control

    By JULIE MOULT

TOM Cruise’s pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes will be reminded to keep her vow of silence during birth — by signs plastered around their home.

The couple — following the Scientology tradition of a silent birth — had the posters delivered to their Beverly Hills mansion.

The 6ft placards will be placed so Katie can see them in labour.

One reads: “Be silent and make all physical movements slow and understandable.”

Dawson’s Creek actress Katie, 26, must “keep mum” and will not even be allowed painkillers when she has the couple’s first child due any day.

Friends — believed to be Scientology elders — were pictured carrying the huge white boards through the gates.

The “birthing boards” will also tell staff and visitors to stay silent.

Followers believe it is traumatic for babies to hear their mother scream or groan when giving birth. They think it can cause “psychic” damage, which takes years of therapy to overcome.

The cult’s creator, sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard, once said: “Maintain silence in the presence of birth to save both the sanity of the mother and child.”

The doctrine stresses newborns cannot be poked or prodded for medical tests or spoken to for seven days.

Katie began dating Tom, 43, last year. She was well-known for her Catholic beliefs but quickly fell pregnant and is yet to wed.

    Cool with me...
It's kinda subjective, though. Let's face it, muslims would get just as mad avout a negative article that went over the crimes against humanity that God has commited as they would over a cartoon making fun of Muhammad. Some people are just going to be offended if you say something they don't like.
(Note: not to single out muslims, alot of Christians would also get angry)

It would make the world a much better place too. People of different groups would laugh together instead of at each other, hate would go down, happyness would go up...

Perhaps comedians would start making jokes that don't have to be offensive to others...

    Why, why do hate freedom?!

    -racist
Well, who is it racist towards?

    -rude
You mean the characters yelling at each other? I don't see what's wrong with that...

    -crude
You mean the swearing? Everything that you couldn't say on this forum is censored, so I don't think that it's that big of a problem.

    -"non-constructive criticism"
    It's a cartooon.

    -not funny
Subjective, but you're half right, I think that afew of the recent ones were boring compared to afew I saw a year ago, but I don't watch the show much.

I meant rudeness towards certain groups. Catholics, were very offended by the rude "Bloody Mary" episode, and groups took action.

Not the swearing, crude in it's animation, this one, with the "not funny" belong in my personal criticisms.

By that definition Hayes was intolerant of those who differ but played a whole different tune when it was his religion that was the brunt of the jokes... so I stand by my original statement Hayes is a bigot.

It seems that Mongoose was arguing that South Park isn't bigotted, rather then defending Hayes.
