To be honest, I think early South Park was crude, rude and pretty unfunny. The last few seasons however have been fine tuned to perfection, formulated or not they are better than ever. Talk about nail on the head political satire! To call it bigotted is missing the point. They systimatically rip the piss out of everyone. If you pick one line out of one episode, sure it will look totally unacceptable. I agree, but then there will be hundreds of instances where the exact opposite party is being torn into. Sometimes I think they go too far, but its my choice if I want to watch it or not, and I watch it knowing that theres a good chance I might be offended, my choice though. The whole thing with Cartman and the Jews is mocking anti-semitism rather than jewish people. Everyone hates Cartman, he is an evil minded little fascist... Watch the episode entitled, "The Passion of the Jew", its a mock up of "The Passion of the Christ" and completely destroys Mel Gibson's film and the anti-semitic sentiment that was around at the time. If you cant laugh off a silly satirical cartoon, however ridiculous it is, then you are are reacting similarly to the Danish Cartoon rioters
