    Default Do you like Curling?

Now, I have noticed on the ORG, that many Organians have poor views on curling. Therefore, I am conducting a survey (scientific too, it has the "Gah" option) in hope of proving my fears unwarranted.

If, my hypothesis is correct, and most Orgers do not like Curling, I attribute it to "iaagnorance" of the game...

Well, this is a poll I wasn't expecting.

I have to admit I do harbour something of a like for curling. Any sport which features the decidedly odd spectacle of people sweeping ice like their life depended on it has charm, if nothing else.

Put it this way, if there was a choice between watching curling and watching almost any other "sport" played anywhere on the planet, I'd watch the other sport. if they made knitting an olympic event I'd rather watch that than curling.

The only thing I would say is the icey sweepy element of it makes it very marginally more interesting than bowling (which is to say, slightly better than death)

It's all in the PR, IMO; they just need a better, more descriptive name. Stoning, or Rocking, or even Sweeping might have more appeal. :)

    Haha, currently Curling is favored.

So what if there was a joke vote and one for curls...

    To EA and Dutch_Guy:

It may seem boring to watch for some (I can watch it as much as I can watch hockey though) but then again, golf is boring to watch for some. Doesn't make the sport boring.

(that is to say, bowling is more enjoyable then curling)

Curling is one of those fun drunk games, like Shuffleboard...golfing...or Throwing Horse Shoes. Not much fun to be a spectator, unless your blasted drunk, but fun to play on occasion (even though I suck at it miserably).

I don't really care either way.

I suppose the fact that I've never cared about the Olypmics and have never really watched curling for any extended period of time doesn't help either...

Reenk Roink may be right that Curling is getting a bit of a bad rap on the forum. I think they have made tremendous strides ever since the game was made an Olympic discipline, as these action shots prove.

Please, no more curling action pictures! I can barely contain my excitement!

    Um, what gets curled anyhow?

I voted no, I just couldn't understand it when I was watching the Olympics. I just kept thinking, "Who thought of this?" It has great teamwork but frankly I'll just keep watching the Olympic Skiiing (The best part of the Olympics!).

In fairness though I guess it's not exactly entertaining watching people throw lead balls or lift heavy weights either but come on watching the hick channel Log cutting strong man competions is more entertaining.

Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.
