I'm playing XL with MTW now and I like it. Lots of new factions, and tweaks to the economy and building, plus more unique units. Trade it cut way back (too much, imo) and farming boosted way up (ditto) so it's not a poor world. All the gold doesn't seem to help the AI much though.
