World Cup Forum Game

Well, there's RTW and BI forum games, so I though a World Cup one would be ideal for the Tavern, let everyone support their country (even though Scotland aren't in it for me . Oh well, here's the plan. You give a point to one country in each group, or in the later stages, each game, with NO DOUBLE POSTING. First team to hit twenty points wins group, second team to hit twenty points is second. These top two from each group go through to the second round. Then first to ten wins a game, for the quarter-finals first to twenty-five, for the semi-finals first to fifty, for the final first to one-hundred. You have one vote per group, and you vote for one nation only in each group. For example: A Germany B Paraguay C ...... The groups are:

I'm confused. You said vote for each nation, and then you say vote with letters, which means voting for a whole group.

No no sorry I'll try and explain it better. You can make one vote per group, voting for one team. Vote for a country you like, or if you come from it, or if you think its the best at football, think of a combination of factors. For example, here's my votes, which will count:

A-Germany, Poland (underrated compared to their potential IMO)
B-Paraguay (good defense, and enough offensive capability to allow for a defensive strategy), England or Sweden (will "Svennis" really do his best when he already knows he's fired? If Sweden is lucky and England is as unstable as it might be there's a 50-50 chance about who proceeds...)
C-Argentina, Netherlands
D-Portugal, Mexico
E-Czech Republic (interesting to see if they'll exhaust themselves in the early unimportant games as in European Championships and lose when it matters, or start calmly and get gradually better), Italy or USA (one of the tightest groups... Italy is varying in quality from top class to average so this won't be easy to guess until after seeing their first game or two in the tournament, and USA can as seen in last World Cup surprise)
F-Brazil (not difficult to guess hehe), Japan (Japan really has potential, nearly beat Brazil in last Olympics IIRC, but they're a bit careless in defense. Fix that, and they'll be really good due to their superior tactics)
G-France, South Korea (difficult to say if they'll keep their good shape of last World Cup, do they still have the same coach btw?)
H-Spain (hopefully Spain will reach their potential for once!), Tunisia (uneven quality between games, but might make it)

I was expecting it to be close between England and the USA, since many members of the Guild will probably have these nationalities. And Brazil also will have a good chance of winning purely because people will vote for them because they're so good at football. (notice FOOTBALL not soccer)
