Default Turning the Org into a politico-cultural institution

Greetings fellow org-ers and staff. Here is the news I bring forward to your years.
We are a nearly 15.000 member community full of prospects.
Every year the world becomes a crappier place for us. Every year civilization and common sense are trown to the dumpster by the merciless hand of globalization. Mercentalism destroys wonder and beauty. Every year the world heads towards a tasteless capitalism where all wonders have perished. Our cultural identity and pride is vanquished by idiotic multi-cultural programmes that in the end do more harm than good as multiculturalism is simply a mixer where the individual loses his sense of identity. As our world is significantly smaller we have turned to the stars for freedom.
This community can mean so much more as it's proven there are alternative solutions to globalization. We have proven that international cooperation and preservance of our individual values is possible.
The Org could become a "real" organization fighting against this issues, promoting values such as culture, the code of honour and authentic education.

Therefore I propose to the administrators the following plan.
    1. We create a non-profit organization that opposes imitation and promotes originality
    2. We gather a virtual library
    3. We create a research apparatus to gather information on endangered cultures home ( individual research)
    4. We post our finds on the forum
    5. We invite UNESCO officials to view the facts
    6. We propose solutions

I belive our community is mature and professional enough to face this task.

Because he thinks that the ORG is the very fine structure for such a cause?

But, what is the cause again?

Have you seen the backroom? Maybe you should propose this there - at least if you want a fight.

But be realistic. This is a first a gaming forum, and while filled with incredible personality, intelligence, and great minds, it is united by a common goal: the playing and appreciation of Total War games. Not anti-globalization. I don't know what Kukri's stance on globalization is, but I doubt he'd be interested in become a leader of a crusader that could very well turn away half of our members. And such a quest would require time and resources that I think few would be willing to contribute.

Sorry. Maybe you could form your own site, as Mithrandir suggested.

I share some of your views, but many will not. As has been suggested, try your idea in the Backroom, and you will find a great deal of opposition from people who differ. Other people want to discuss games and that's all.

Best to join with those who share your passion on another site dedicated to these ideas, or start your own. The .org is too diverse - and is a gaming site, albeit of a high standard.

Juicy views like that are always welcome additions to the Backroom diet. Just don't expect wholehearted agreement.

Converting the .org to a political organisation? No, but...
A good start would be to post your idea in the backroom, gather some like minded fellows and then start a new site with a forum. It just might take off, it does sound interesting and we have a good amount of politcally motivated people here.

Hello Cronos Impera and all contributors:
Your idea gives a well-deserved nod to the sharp minds and incisive intellects assembled here. I, too, often stand in awe of the wealth of knowledge and insight our membership shows. Sadly, converting the main direction of totalwar.org to real-world politics is beyond our 'charter' (and our free hosting by a gaming network), so is not implementable at this time. The other posters here have offered some other options you might explore.
Be well. Do good. Keep in touch.

Besides the Org is far too diverse to be united under any one issue. There'd be a lot of in-fighting. Starting another forum is a good idea though.

If I may offer my humble opinion, I think a forum devoted to one particular cause without opposition is not productive to the fostering of diverse discussions and viewpoints that are necessary to view such an issue, or any issue, for that matter.

For example, totalwar.org, while technically a fansite forum--implying inherent support, fandom--allows people to come by and "diss the games." Indeed, if one but look back at the Rome outrage...

I assume the charter has nothing along the lines of "to praise the glory of Total War games" in it, but more like "to allow for a place of discussion on Total War games." That is, I assume, being not a staff and haven't read the charter.

Just a warning if you really intend to start a forum. Be careful with the inherent bias and the kind of individuals attracted.

And on the issue at hand, while totalwar.org certainly carries quite a panache in the minds, and indeed has expanded its service to cover many grounds, allowing for the development of a stable, coherent "virtual community" (the latest major addition being the hardware&software forum), it is not suited to develop into a politically devoted forum by any means: the majority of the users have a very wide-ranging opinion base on just about every issue, and the vast majority of users are, in fact, not interested whatsoever in politics as a purpose for coming to this forum; your opinions are certainly welcome in the political forum, aka the Backroom, however.
