OK maybe I asked the wrong question.
Not interested in the best mod but the mod you enjoyed the most. I am not opssesed with the history accuarcy or the facts that one unit is not behaving like it really did.
I am just looking for a mod that I can enjoy and stick with for the long run.
I suggest Rome Total Realism, increasing history does not reduce game play, IMO RTR's gameplay is much better than RTW's.
Give it a go :)
PS. May I suggest the unofficial "platinum edition", it is RTR Gold but just ported to 1.5 patch.
If you want to stay close to vanilla Terra Ex.... erm not sure how its spelt lol is a really good mod :).
my favs are
Rome Total Realism
Europa Barborum
Terra Expun....wotever
Skinner/Modeller for EB
Anything based on IceTorque's big map
I think Webbird's mods use amended version and BareBones I think also uses it.From his signature:
WarMap v1.5 for RTW v1.5: For the least micro-management, and the most consistently challenging Campaigns and Battles.http://www.twcenter.net/downloads/db/?mod=767
BI-WarMap II for BI v1.6: Large scale strat map, all factions playable, 199 regions, custom combat stats.
http://www.twcenter.net/downloads/db/index.php?mod=844
Having tried big map I can't go back to vanilla.
