Hello Friends,

I em from Germany and i have created my own MTW (Medieval Total War not Rome!) Campain with 32 Parties and about 195 Units. I em finished with all and its running normal, just one thing is missing i want to create a different map but i dont know how, i allready tryd the Luk map maker from wellington but i dont understand it completly the game just crashes and the map(s) i create dont work... all i need is a map or better i just want to chance one (maybe 4) county and make it more historical. And i em allready kind of frustrated with creating map and testing if it will work...

If someone know how to make a map running and do the changes and programming for me i would be willing to pay him for his time, i will pay 50€ and the package with the data of my mod and the other 50€ when i recive the finished map for my mod. Post cost i will pay too.

Or can someone explain me how the LMM4 works? Can it be that it dont work with my system?

Welcome to the Org, Krondor.

You would probably do better to post this in the Alchemist Lab, that's where the MTW modders hang out, although they sometimes drop by here.

Just noticed your video card, there is a known issue with the newer nVidia drivers, it's also possible that this could be causing your problem. Setting your anti-aliasing to 2 might solve this, as described in this thread:

If the standard MTW campaigns doesn't work on your machine, this might be the problem.

32 factions ? I thought the limit is smaller... You really have put so many in one campaign ?
I mean after all you can generate more campaigns with smaller number of factions with the numer overall exceeding 30 as I did in PMTW, but 32 in one, I thought it is impossible.

I just tested 29 factions in the new campaign for Samurai Warlords.
It's said somewhere in the original startpos that 32 is the limit.

However, you don't see the portraits when the AI thinks
and some factions (above shift+9) aren't reachable via -ian command.

I have tried adding more than 30 on numerous occasions. Without rebels it is thirty, you can't add 32 factions its as simple as that as the game will not load up

Blind King of Bohemia is right, they are 30 Faction plus the Rebel one so total 31 i em sorry, i need to apologize, i written the campain December 2005 and stopped when i was trying to make a map... it was kind of frustrating after dozen try with no succes. I haven worked on it since last year now i got more time, becouse the company of my dad is going into bankrupty so i have in the moment a lot of free time how it looks .

I used you map for Superearly of you BKB mod i liked you mod a lot specialy the Units, if you would made for me some changes on the map i would even pay you for you time if that is okay. I would just like to make 4 Changes.

As i Remind:

A Landbrigde between Britan and European continent Province "Wessex and Flandern"
A Landbrigde between Europe and Afrika at "Grenada and Marocco"
A Landbrigde between "Danmark and Schweden"
And Croatia i would like to resize and make it bigger i can draw it up on a map
Bosnia should have no sea port and the coastline should be croatian.

I try all of this with the LMM4 but i cant figure out what is going wrong all the time. If you can do the Map for me it would be awesome.

F2 and than you will have them stored in TGAs folder in .TGA format.

What i did in the campain:

I changed Provice Valures like this one for example:

I was Rising the Rebellion trigger in ordinary provinces from 0 to 5 and on main one like Constantinoble from 1 to 10 some Rebellios one Like Scotland what had before 3 has now 15. that means for a Province with the Valure 5 you need at least 1000 Men Garnisation to keep it away from upraising. That is specialy fun When you get invaded you you army is nearly destroyd and you try to escape into the castle and the enemy is in Siege with you the chance that a Royal Rebellion start to fight you enemy is very high if the opponet has a small army. And on the other hand you need strong garrnisons to keep you servants under kontroll or you deal with the same problems like the Western-Roman empire did when they where running out of troops. Troop managemed become more important then before when you can hold a province with like 100 men in the orginal game... it was way to low i think, imagine 100 men keep the order in Province and the Peasants dont even think about Revolution

I incresed the Income of all Provinces and the price for Building trops are expansive to buy but cheap to maintrain. For example Constantinople gets 9500 Gold ( changed Florins into gold ) per turn. but some building allready need about 20000 Gold to build and the construciton time is longer, for example on some castles in europe they build for 30 years till completion so i wanted to make it more Real. but i em still on the balancing at this point.

Another effekt on it is if you raid a Province like the Vikings and burn all down you get a lot of gold and on the other hand if you got a few provinces you can handle it like the russian did with Napolion how had 900000 Men at his Grand Army and the Russian just 470000 they burned everything in front of the french to keep them starving and the provinces will go into rebellion once they are not enought or no troops in a province and that keeps the enemy bleeding till you army is strong enought for a conterstrike.

This was my idea of strategic play


I did some usefull changes at the Units too, for example i made it possible to Recrut Princess, so you can just recrut a lot of them to tie you generals to you stronger and keep Rebellions into a smaller Level, everyone who want to add it into his campain here is the Princess Data just replace it with the old data.

I em still working on the Units to Balance them, i was Putting a few Party together like Almohads, Ottoman Turks, Egypt and made of them "The Islamic Union" they keep invading a lot becouse i made ther units cheap, for Example the Muslim Peasant cost just 10 Gold and no Maintraince the only unit in the game what is for free to keep

Glad to hear you liked my mod Krondor mate. The land bridges are easy to do but the Croatia/Bosnia thing is a bit more difficult. If you send me your startpos file I can do the landbridges for you but I'm afraid I don't have the time to edit the strategy map. If you download the LMM and follow the instructions carefully you should be able to do it. I know it seems daunting at first but perservere and you'll get the hang of it in no time. PM me first so I can give you my e-mail address.

Krondor, I think you've sparked the interest of many bored MTW modders out there! Well done!

I've limited my fledgling modding attempts to non-map changes; so I can't help with that. The LMM is way too esoteric for me. It seems, from what I've seen, to entail lots of experimentation with the files until what you do and the LMM rules makes sense.

Changes to the startpos files to add the land bridges are relatively easy; but I think BKB is helping with that. It just involves changing the info in the SetNeighbor list of neighboring provinces for that era's text file. Adding, for example, ID_Flanders to the line that starts SetNeighbors:: ID_Wessex and then also adding ID_Wessex to the line that begins SetNeighbors:: ID_Flanders and so on.

These changes will add the land bridges to the game, although they won't make changes to the map itself; and you'll be able to move units (as will the AI) across these new land bridges.

I'd very much like to try out your mod when you finish it, though! Would you be willing to post it for us to play? I'm sure BKB or someone else here can give you some information on how to do that.

First, Thanks for you tip, its works with the Landbride i already add Grenada and Marroco and Wessex and Flandern, now i em coming closer to my finishline

Now i just would need to resize the map on some of the balkan states. Then the Map should be done.

I was odinary a RTW Player how started to mod there but it became mostly boring at some points of the game for example you whipe out nearly 80% of the Faction of the game then there is no real danger for you anymore no matter what party you play, i just bought for 10€ the MTW with the VI for fun to try it how it is and get maybe new ideas. And i liked it more then RTW specially that the Factions reaper makes it fun and gives it a special flavor what makes it uncalculatable in some ways and keeps you on the track of planning and organising, i dont care about the Screen if it is not so good in 3D like in RTW the game is more fun then RTW ever was for me i bought the Barbarian invasion and was very disappointed at it i just played a few days and stop then, specially in the Diplomatic mode and with the Religions aspect MTW is cooler. I hope MTW 2 will be the best of the hole series :-)

If i em with My MTW mod finished i will post it here to download or i can send free CD copy to you and the others, but i need to do a lot i still want to add more units for the partys so that in the end it will be 256 i guess this was the limit i read it somewhere. But i em sure i would be done till August with all of it. If i can finish in the next days the Map it would be no big problem at all to make the rest ;-)



So how can help me with the map, for just moving the borderline a bit away and resizing a few countries?

Krondor, the only thing I can suggest is to dig way back in the threads here in the Alchemist Lab forum. Look for threads dealing with LMM or modifying the maps. You might have to dig pretty deep in the forum. And just keep experimenting with it until it works.

When you finish, see if Blind King of Bohemia or VikingHorde, or perhaps one of the admins like KukriKhan can help you get your mod posted over on 3Ddownloads.com, then we can all try it out.

I wish you luck! I was also not very impressed with Rome TW or BI. MTW is the game that pleases me. I hope for good things with MTW2; but I worry that it will actually be more like RTW than MTW, sadly.

Hi Krondor - I might be able to sort this out for you. If I understand the thread so far, all you need now is to add a new province (Bosnia) to the BKB Super map, and redraw some other borders?

I have BKB's mod somewhere (not installed it yet, still in my "To play" list ) so I should be able to have a look at that. I don't know how many provinces it has on it so far, so I hope it's not up to the limit, else you might need to choose a province to "lose" to make a slot available. If you could post up an image of the borders you want, that would give me enough to go on, I think. All that's needed is to redraw some of the LUKUP map, which is easy enough by hand, no need to delve into LMM. Then there will be some changes to the startpos files to set the new neighbours and borders.

Gives me an excuse to get BKB's mod loaded up

Thank u for reply and u help. Well its not bosnia what i want to add it allready on the map, i used the BKA mod map of early or late (i need to check) and i want to enlarge Croatia like it was at the time of Tomislav era anno 900 after christ.

So i just want to redo the boarders of the map from croatia that is all i want, i think the map allready got maximum provinces as far i remember. I can send u a jpeg image of a screenshoot from the strategic map where i can draw the border of croatia i red how i want it to be.

I need to install the game again and copy my mod files into it so no worry its ok when we get it done till christmas. Since i work on another project what is timeconsuming too.

I got BKB loaded up last night, just to take a look at the map, and yes, it does look like all the provinces are used up, and saw that Bosnia was in there. No problem redrawing borders once I know where you want them, but I can probably find an old map online.

I started a Norse campaign, just to see how it goes, then next thing I knew it was 2am, great campaign so far Glad I finally got it loaded!

The sci-fi mod sounds ambitious - good luck!
