My (USA citizen) Mom just cannot fathom why my father and I partake of such a hot beverage in his garden, when the temperature is in the 100sF.
Believe me, we have tried, ever so hard, that hot originated in the tropics.
Alas to no avail.

There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Gods, not the metric system. I was in primary school when the U.S. first began making a big push to get us switched over. Liters this, meters that, etc. It never took. That was 40 years ago. It still hasn't caught on. I don't think it ever will, here.

I grew up as an American kid overseas - so I learned both systems side-by-side, and am equally comfortable with either. For most average (non-technical/scientific) folks, I really don't think either system is "better" than the other. People are just most comfortable with what they learned growing up.Originally Posted by Aenlic

Imperial certainly has its uses, but this weekend I had to work out how many tiles I needed for my bathroom and I was very happy to be working in square metres thank you very much.
OT, iced tea is rampantly metrosexual. Oh, and BTW all these fancy teas are not tea either. If you can't imagine it being brewed by a sapper on the north west frontier* than its not tea.
(I'll make an exception for chinese tea since a billion people can't be wrong).

Never acquired the taste for hot tea (or really any hot beverage). Don't drink iced tea that much either, it's only good if it's early in the day, and you are sitting in a restaurant in the south with a hangover. Sweet brewed iced tea is just the thing. Unsweetened iced tea is somewhat pointless.

Unfortunately, what we have here is a case of one American letting their whole country down again. You should be ashamed of yourself STFS, it seems the old colony has fallen quite a way since we decided to start the experiment and see how they got running things themselves. Oh well, I suppose when we get round to it we shall ahve to take it back and show them the error of their ways.Originally Posted by Strike For The South

Four stage strategy from Yes, Minister:
Stage one we say nothing is going to happen.
Stage two, we say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it.
Stage three, we say that maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage four, we say maybe there was something we could have done, but it's too late now.
Tea is for everywhere, be it hot or cold tea in a hot or cold place. I would happily drink tea in South California. It may be 20 odd degrees Centigrade here, but I happily drink tea...Originally Posted by Wakizashi

All those who don't like tea should try some nice strong watermelon tea!. Seriously this stuff is so good! As much as I like iced tea, watermelon tea is IMHO the best drink ever invented.
