The pikemen actually use their pikes with two hands now, and they don't seem to be in that ridiculous phalanx of RTW. I sure hope pikes have been revamped.

Take a look at the screenshot with the battle interface ... that map seems pretty big. It's pretty big, larger than Rome's, it seems.

At least in that shot the enemy formation is cohesive, and actually well-deployed (are those archers on that ridge). Anyway, at least it is my fevered dreams that that army is beign led by the AI.

Well it looks like both the swordsmen and the spearmen are charging.. the units on the left wing of the swordsmen seem to be wrapping around the spearmen anyways, hence the thinner line.

The big thign: SPEED adjustment! It does look like they have a +/- for the speed, it might not be a bar a'la MTW but more speed options is very promising.

The map is also huge and the campaign map is looking better now. More environmental detail for certain.

If there is a Swiss faction then it should be allowed form a phalanx as I understand Swiss halberdier's tactics were influenced by the phalanx and paved the way for the later phalanx-style pikeman tactics of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Look this is lamentable! Why is Caen there instead of Rouen? Along with the inclusion of Bucherest, not to mention the fact that they have included Nottingham as one of the three major English cities. Oh, why oh why, can't they read a historical atlas? This is not D-Day in World War 2.

What's so wrong with Nottingham? I think they chose it because it is pretty much in the middle of the central province they have created. It was a significant medieval town and seem to have as good a claim as most others. The only clearly larger ones (Bristol, York and Norwich) are way off the centre of that middle province.

I wonder what the third major English city is?

Nottingham means Robin Hood. Robin Hood means Middle Ages. Robin Hood is cool. Hence Nottingham means that M2:TW is a cool medieval game!

He's right. CA is absolutely ruining M2TW with their city/province choices. I really don't think I can enjoy playing the game at all with Nottingham as the capital of an English province and freaking CAEN sitting across the coast. Its just too much! I dread seeing how they handle the Americas. I can't imagine how badly they intend to represent its major cities!

Wasn't it York in one of the screenshots?

EDIT: I wonder how easy it will be to place new cities in the game. Didn't CA say that every city had been hand-built this time? If so that means a LOT more work just to correct these silly mistakes.

    (edited again for CA-bashing)
