Suppose you were some kind of guy who is like Genghis Khan and have a menagerie of women in ur harem (for watever reason in this modern era). Lets further suppose each of ur 100+ wives yield 2+ children (so thats like 200+ rugrats) that is enough to constitute the start of a nation.

So here is the question, what would you call this nation?

Would name it after yourself??

Or your org. nickname??

We would be the kingdom of Polabia, we would be a forested mountain and plains dwelling people, but with a coastline of sandy shores and a dozen or so islands to boot. The bulk of our men would fight has heavy infantry in a plate cuirass and pauldrons, with a corinthian helm, kite shield and pike, and a battle skirt bearing the colors of our nation, or as an elite cavalry akin to polish hussars.

We would be content with our lands, our people, our religion and our culture, but we would never accept anything beneath the status of empire. We would live peacefully with neighbors who desired peace, and put those who would wish us ill in their place. If our allies needed help, we would aid them as if they were a member of our own dominion, and those who would dare attack them be summarily obliterated.

Either Benevolent Dictatorship or Absolute Monarchy (dictatorship would be best for a nation just growing up, whereas monarchy would be best for a nation established). Compulsive military term of 1 year at age 18 for all genders. American English would be the official language with ASL being a required course in primary and secondary education. Dropping out from secondary (high school) education is illegal. Murder, rape, and child abuse all considered high felonies and punishable by either torture and imprisonment, or execution. 100 wives would not be allowed, as monogomy will be a law. Divorce would be illegal. Abortion is illegal except in the cases of incest and rape. 16 for age of consent. Flat 7% income tax.

And various other things, but those are the key things. I'd discuss the logic in the laws, but that would be best for the backroom.

most everything that is consensual will be legal. drinking age is set to 12 (coming of age rituals encouraged). operating vehicles is limited to commercial use, though public transportation will be plentiful. personal transportation is limited to feet or bikes (elderly, and the like, who need assistance will receive free on-call taxi service provided by the state).

there will be a small police force, and there will be a small, volunteer military/coast guard (to deal with pirates).

geographically, imagine corsica.. that's pretty much it.

all legal details will be handled by me (as i am dictator for life) and my hand-picked advisors. i may put certain issues to a direct vote if i don't want to make up my mind on an issue.

some form of agriculture, mining, and tourism will be the major industries. tourism will be highly regulated if too many annoying tourists start showing up. be warned.

The United Soviet States of Nepolonia is a massive, economically powerful nation, renowned for its compulsory military service. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 2.101 billion are ruled by a mostly-benevolent dictator, who grants the populace the freedom to live their own lives but watches carefully for anyone to slip up.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Healthcare, Commerce, and Education. The average income tax rate is 100%. A powerhouse of a private sector is dominated by the Information Technology industry.

A National Academy regulates grammar and usage, people reciting Shakespeare have become a common sight, eight year-olds with lemonade stands have been known to be locked up on charges of embezzlement, and guns are banned. Crime is relatively low, thanks to the all-pervasive police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Nepolonia's national animal is the Weasel, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Struble.

The country is a Father Knows Best state, Civil Rights are below average, political freedoms are outlawed and the economy is frighteningly strong. Oh, and the flag.
