    Default System bottleneck question

    Hi,

I am considering a gaming laptop from Dell. The specs I will go for is this:

    Dell XPS M1710, Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2700 (2.33GHz/667Mhz)
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, English(over $200 worth of xtras FREE spare battery,AC Adaptor & XPS BackPack)
17 inch UltraSharp TrueLife Wide-screen WUXGA
    2 GB, DDR2-667 SDRAM, 2 DIMM
    Internal English Keyboard
512MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GTX
    100GB Hard Drive (7200RPM)
    Dell Wireless® 350 Bluetooth Module
    8XDVD+/-RW w/Sonic Digital Media™/CyberLink PowerDVD™, No Media
    Soundblaster Advanced Audio for XPS

As I am a hardware dummy, can I ask a knowledgeable person for the bottleneck of this system? Which part can be improved/pulled back for a balanced performance? I can also get the 1gb GeForce 7950gx2 dual graphics card installed, but is it worth it? Shall I wait for some time? Shall I wait until core 2 duos become available?

    Thanks
When the game ends, peon and king go into the same box.

Looks like a nice system, what kind of games are you looking to play on it?

Your biggest bottleneck, of course, will be the various crapware that Dell preinstalls...

    Default Dell

Dell has great problems with Sony's batteries which they use. Dell has problem with overhitting batteries.

Well, any game.. but I wont be getting a new one during the next 3-4 years, so I want to be able to play newer games.

Yeah, Dell laptops are very problem prone. That is why I will get a 4 year full warranty. The laptop itself gets overheated too. I am considering a laptop cooler.

That is some machine... How much power will it consume? .. You'll probably have it in a docking or with a cable when playing...

Yep, they are making custom Dells that include SLI 7950GTXs. The question is, how am I going to cool that thing?

Yeah, I am getting it as a portable desktop replacement. I am living at the dorm so electricity is free

Don't bother cooling it. Let your testicles soak up the heat.

Don't ever expect to have babies though.

Who said I care about babies? I just don't want my GPU melt into the heatsink.
