I know people use "LOL" quite often, but that post genuinely had me laughing out loud. I'm getting some weird looks even as I type this. Very good stuff, Kommodus.

We killed Masy because of that?
I say we get Sasaki and Kommodus.

No misleading going on here, my friend. Masy really was mafia. You'll find that out eventually. I'm simply not disclosing my methods, as I said before - not to the MVFJA or anyone else. I have my reasons. Trust me or don't - your choice.Originally Posted by Silver Rusher

Now, now, let's not rush of and lynch good Kommodus. If his new method is correct, it will take two lynchings to prove. I'm all in favor of giving Kommodus two tries. After that, sure, let's tie him to a pole and dip him in a pool full of sharks with frickin' lasers ...
Day breaks in the Frontroom. All is quiet.
The villagers, taking no chances, were holed up in their own houses. The few who didn't have weapons at the start of the killings now possessed some kindof them. If they died, they would go down fighting.
But time passed, and they heard no disturbance. Not at all. There were no distant explosions or screams, no shattering glass or gunshots. Everything was peaceful and quiet, just as it had been a few days ago, before the killings began.
As the day went on, people loosened up and relaxed a little bit. Maybe, just maybe, the mafia were gone?
At precisely 11:19 in the morning, everyone could suddenly hear the sound of trumpets blasting from the town center. The villagers had an odd feeling... as if they were compelled to go to the sound of the trumpets. Everyone gathered there, to the sight of two men atop the execution platform.
On the left, Chief of Police Beirut was looking slightly disappointed. On the right, Reenk Roink was looking triumphant. The triumphant one spoke to the crowd.
"People of the Frontroom," he boomed, "I am your Detective. And I have some excellent news: The mafia are dead!!!"
Everyone quieted. Surely this couldn't be true.
Beirut now addressed the crowd, speaking in monotone.
"Yes gentlemen, he is correct. Reenk investigated Masy after his death and determined that he was guilty. Also by this, he realized that we got the other mafioso, discovery1. I know it's hard to believe, but I can't use my weapon on anyone anymore."
Beirut's sullenness was drowned out by the happy crowd celebrating. The mafia were gone, and hadn't done too much damage!
Late that night, at the village pub, the party was still going strong. Pretty much everyone had bought drinks for everyone else, and much rejoicing was going on. The Frontroom had returned to its normal state.

This is a great shame. I will never live this down. I did learn a few things about the org, which I will not share, and I can take mild comfort in the fact that I was lynched not for being mafia but for screwing around(btw, LIGHTEN UP) and that no one suspected me for my kills. Oh, Masy, for a while I was thinking about trying to frame you, since I was thinking you might be a loose cannon.
Did you lie Kommodus?Come now, discovery1, I had no intention of participating in this "feud" you and Ice seem to have. I voted for you based on a shred of evidence which seemed to be the only thing I had at the time. I do apologize for this, since I now know you were innocent.

If only I had kept to my initial suspicions of Masy instead of going after Sasaki. (I'm not lying, ask Tiberius)
This was why I was suspicious, btw:

Yeah, I'm kind of disappointed. Disco and Masy did their best, though.

Maybe SR would have sucked up votes if I kept him alive. Become another SK if you will.
GoreBag: Oh, Prole, you're a nerd's wet dream.
DANGIT!!!
Honestly, discovery1, I didn't know you were mafia. You were lynched before I had completed my new method. I wasn't intending to enter your feud with Ice or anything like that; I just voted based on exactly what I said: the Osmium.
I thought that after Masy there was still one mafioso left. Crap dang crap... I had such plans for messing with all you poor villagers' heads! I had so many cryptic, obscure things to say! So many ways to speak the truth, yet hide it behind suspicious, bizarre behavior! You'd all have lynched me for sure, and I'd have been laughing the whole time!
Man, what a let-down. I'll never be able to finish my psychological experiment now. Why, Disco, why? Why did it have to be you? If it had been someone else, I'd have found out so very quickly! I'd have had the game in my hands! I'd have held the power to prolong it or end it at will!
Even if I wasn't believed on the second suspect, I'd have been able to end it as such: (PM to Reenk Roink: Please investigate Player X, who I know to be guilty.) Yes, RR, I figured you were probably the detective.
Gah!
Oh well, now you can all come over and join Cosa Nova: A New Mafia. The more the merrier! Yeah!

At least I survived this mafia game
Somehow I feel that if Kommodus has a method which allows him to know the identity of the Detective and the Mafia by round 3, then I feel that he should refrain from using it. What is the fun in the game if someone is certain who the Mafia is by round 3? I feel cheated...![]()

Wow, I take my hat off.
Kommodus your methods are pure intelligence. Take it from one who worked in the field during his military service. It doesn’t matter if you use a brilliant mathematical formula or are able to sniff private messages. The result is the same – intelligence.

Kommodus, I think we'd all like to know at least something of your methode, perhaps not everything - which would otherwise be somewhat unfair towards you - but at least something other than seemingly criptic nonsense.
Other than that, your methode did seem to work alright with Masy. But then again, it was the first and only time you've employed it. So is this a game winner ? Well, I daresay we'll see in a next mafia game.

Shame that game had to end so quickly. It seemed it was heading for quite an interesting game, with lots of people participating.

You're right AD. Absolutely right. In fact, I'd already thought of this. (As I said, I wasn't sure of the identify of the other mafioso, but when I found it I planned to try some experiments and not make it too easy for the villagers.)Originally Posted by AggonyDuck

Yes. Well. Oh dear, I guess. First off, congrats to the townsfolk, especially Kommodus, Sasaki and co who assaulted me from the start. A 2 round victory is impressive (and frankly deeply humiliating), but I hope it's down to the towns 1337 skills rather than our ineptitude ( I say our, but really Disco got killed for something entirely un-mafia related, so the fault lay with me...) Anyhoo, heres how my brief game panned out, for those who want to learn a mafia strategy NOT to be copied...
Logged on 7ish on the first day, and proceeded straight to this thread. Posted an innocous comment to get some chat going, sat back, and waited. Only then did I notice the little flashing pm box. Damn! I had already drawn attention to myself, but time was running out, so PM I did. 30 mins later, up come the kills, and so do the suspicions of me. Tiberius, I chose you cos of your "The mafia will get me!" approach, and I always aim to please. As for osmium - total red herring (google, heavy metal), and I'm delighted with how well it worked. That is, delighted until it fingered Disco, the, unbeknowst to me, chemist graduate. Ugh. Luck was not with us. The pressure was on.
But, happily, Myrddraal and Sasaki started having a go at each other, so the heat was off for a while. But, the townspeople suddenly got annoyed at the Ice/ Disco fued, and, for a 50-50 chance, lo and behold my fellow mafioso gets bumped off. I had tried to maintain an air of distance, and not get to involved in the chat (I even didn't log in at times, so as not to appear online). But I also tried to make some friends, and be fairly neutral, and only voting for "safe" parties (Kage). Csar was killed to stir up the Sasaki/Myrddraal thing, and Leet killed to frame Ice, as disco was going to attempt to blame him in the chat. This seemed to all go ok, but then out of the blue came the fateful Kommodus post. Well, damn. Suddenly the whole frontroom turns on me. A couple resigned, but desperate, defences fail, and the lynch strikes.
As for Kommodus's strategy, I can only assume that Reenk Roink and him were in cohorts, Reenk maintaining neutrality so not to appear as a target (and lose his valuable detective skill), and Kommodus making the Votes (as he had some kind of previous method of detecting mafia, this assurity in his posting could be covered up by some "new method"). If Kommodus died, he could still influence the chat, and Reenk could still investigate. I can only assume, but well done whatever it was.
Final thanks to disco for mafia-ing with me, and to GH for hosting. I sign off now, a Mediocre (ex) Mafioso...
-edit-
Lol. If it is other than what i suggested, be frugal in it's use please! Mafia is fun, but not when super-sleuths get the mafia first time. Not taking credit from your victory though. Well done (Grrr).Somehow I feel that if Kommodus has a method which allows him to know the identity of the Detective and the Mafia by round 3, then I feel that he should refrain from using it. What is the fun in the game if someone is certain who the Mafia is by round 3? I feel cheated...
Also sadly I won't have access to the internet from this thursday to the next (just as well we were defeated eh), so i will be unable to participate in Kommodus's ace looking new game. Sniff.

Anyway, Kommodus: n^2 number of roots? That's one big big polynomial. Are they actually useful at all, by the way? (polynomials)

Aw shucks. That was over fast. Well anyway, to all the people suspecting me:
BAHAHHAHAHA don't you feel foolish now. I was looking forward to defending myself today though. I figured I could live at least one more round. I'm also amused that my very first suspicion of the game was correct. I did think discovery was innocent but still my logic for suggesting we lynch him was good. Would have been very good cover if we hadn't jumped on him for it this game.
And Kommodus, that was one of the funniest things ever. I'll have to see if I can figure out your method.
