Since I do so enjoy pointing out the hanging buggers and braided hairs in the skyward point noses of French aristocrats, I thought to pass this one along. It seems like the French government is about to instigate another devastating boycott like the one suffered during the “Freedom Fries” era.

The French National Assembly on 13 October passed a bill, which, if approved by the Senate and signed by President Jacques Chirac, would penalize anyone denying the Armenian genocide at the hands of the Ottoman Turks with a fine of up to €45,000 (US$56,000) and one year in prison.
What will they call them this time? Fez fries? Faris fries (MTW reference)? Who knows. I don’t know whether or not this was prompted by concerned citizens, the recent (and continuing) burning of Paris, or what. It just reinforces my belief that the French (and to a lesser extent, German) government is trying to turn the European Union into the Union Française.
Presidential candidates, according to an official in Ankara, are trying to win the votes of those citizens opposed to Turkey's EU accession bid. Moreover, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's administration believes that France is "permanently hostile" to Ankara's EU integration.
No disrespect towards the citizens, just the ruling aristocracy. It seems like if they really wanted to piss off the Turks, they chose the right subject.

Rumor [me] has it that they’ll make up for the lost revenue by increasing arms sales to petty dictators. They lost one of their biggest customers a couple years back and are looking to expand their customer base.
