I would of yore been quite thick skinned on any issue.

The primary issue isn't the posters.

I took a post as apersonal attack.

I was going to do the sensible thing and ask another moderator to deal with.

I did not, because I choose not to. ^ -1 ,

My sense of humour has diminished to the point that I don't feel like guiding with a light touch.

Should only be used in moderation and not as a lashing out. I choose to be seduced by the darkside.

My abilities as a moderator as such are effected.

My personal enjoyment of this site are still great. When I look at the community that has been established and the overall feelings of warmth it is nice to see.

But I cannot handle the trolls any longer with kid gloves. That is my issue and as such my choice is to resign and take a long holiday .

I'll enjoy more time with the wife and kid

You've done and outstanding job Pape. It is commendable that you recognize when it is time to step back and take a break. I'm impressed with the level of commitment (with humour) you've maintained for so long and I hope you do hang around. I haven't been a member for long, but in that short time that I've been around Pape has proven to be an extremely helpful, funny, and responsible member/moderator.

Enjoy your time with your family. I'm guessing that you only had this problem while moderating the backroom, maybe it would be a better idea to step back there but continue in the Entrance Hall and Apothecary.

Well we hate to see you go Pape, but in your case perhaps it is for the best. Moderating the Backroom has to be challenging under the best of circumstances, and you're not going to do anyone any good by going postal on us! Enjoy your vacation from the Org--may your absense not be for too long.

It's very sad that you have felt so angry with a post that you have come to this decision. However, to do so shows the great wisdom and consideration that has typified your moderation and I will miss you greatly as a voice of sense and clarity.

You walked the impossible line between being a moderator of the Backroom and a poster with forceful and interesting views yourself.

sorry to hear that Pape. But you need a long vacation, and it is good to get away from this place for awhile, it can start to play with your mind a bit. Take care of your wife, and your kid, and when you get the chance take care of yourself too. The Org will still be here, ready to listen to your counsel once again with open arms, when you...if you decide to come back.
