OK, so I just unexpectedly won my English grand campaign. All along, I've been shooting for 45 cities + Jerusalem. But after taking my 34th city (and destroying the Portuguese faction), I got the victory video.
I guess there is another victory condition that gets triggered if you destroy a certain number of factions? I think Portugal was the 5th faction I destroyed.
Anyone else have a similar experience? I'm playing H/H; guess it's time to start a harder campaign... maybe as the Turks.

I destroyed all but 3 christian factions and didn't get the video till I had my conditions fulfilled.
Note that 45 is number of settlements, that includes both castles and citites.
You also need to take a specific region (usually constantinople or jerusalem)

Did you have any vassel's? Their land counts to the territory count as well.

OK, shoot. I just loaded the game again and realized what happened. I did control 45 regions, I was looking at the wrong number in the faction summary window which said I had 34 cities. Plus 11 castles that's 45 regions.
Damn, I never got any gunpowder units or made it to the new world. Looks like I need to play harder settings next time or at least a less expansionist strategy!

Probably less expansionist. I managed 60+ provinces in just over 70 turns on VH.
Just don't get that 1 land you need... whether it's jersualem, constantinople, etc.
That way you can play till the time runs out and take over the world ^^
That's what I prefer at least.
