Lots of ports and roads. Reduce your armies/agents and increase your number of provinces. Raise your tax rates if you can. Convert unneeded castles into cities.

Build Farms, upgrade farms. Build Ports, upgrade ports. Get Trade rights with everybody. Don't build units unless you really need them. Maintain peace. Closely watch income every turn. Check rebels are not blocking roads etc.

Have very high tax rates in each and every city you have and enough militia to sustain PO just above 80% (75% is bottomline but 5% safety is good).

Defend castles with peasants on the other hand, not militia. Usually 1 or 2 peasants keep a castle happy.

Try to minimize your fleet. I found that I almost never needed ships especially as the rebels and other factions mass produce them and you need to as well to have a chance. Better to just walk or hire the occassional mercenary cog!

Use armies that you build up. Don't let your knights sit around, move em around to battles!

    And of course build:
Roads, Markets, Docks, Trade docks and merchants guilds. Those greatly boost your income. Also make sure you don't keep generals in settlements unless they are really useful for increasing income without causing riots. Many generals can quickly become corrupt, lazy or poor taxmen in towns which you want to avoid really.

Clear any rebels in your lands as they ofen block roads and thus trade. And hire a few merchants, but not to sit around but to proactively take over other merchants - seizing assets gives you florins!

I would actually say don't build farms because they increase population growth and you'll end up with 30k+ population in settlements and have massive PO problems or you'll have to employ full stacks of militia to keep PO in check. Build at most landclearance, nothing more in towns.
In castles you can build full farming as the order there is usually no problem. Of course the income isn't as great, but still, in the long run it pays out.

Keep your army to the minimum size necessary to achieve your objectives. Sometimes it is better to buy mercenaries, even though more expensive than your regulars, then disband them after you are done with them. The real cost of troops is in the maintenance costs per turn rather than the purchasing price.
