    Default help with give_trait command

I am having trouble putting the name in of a character with a long name, or multiple words in the name. Such as Georgia of Chimera. And I cant use the gvie_trait this method because this character is that of another faction, so I cant select the person.

There has to be some way, but Ive tried just about EVERYTHING, such as

    Georgia_of_Chimara
    GeorgiaofChimara
    GeorgiaOfChimara
    Georgiaofchimara

and all kinds of other varieties.

PLEASE HELP!! Im trying to marry a prince of direct bloodline to a german princess, and I dont want to get that damn wife is a wretch trait.

Select the character on the campaign map and type 'give_trait this' then whatever trait you want to give him/her.

Is it possible to select a character from another faction? I thought not. That is what I am having trouble with, I know how to select your own factions people and use the get_trait this command, but I need to know how to put longer names in so I can give traits to other factions princesses!

So I just want to clarify.

I can use the give_trait command on anyone IN MY FACTION simply by using give_trait this

However, I cannot use this method on characters of OTHER FACTIONS

I can use any name that is only one word, by using give_trait charactername such as give_trait Yuri Loyalty 3

This works on people of any faction, mine or my rivals.

Howerver I do not know how the console needs me to input the names of people with surnames, such as

    Georgia of Chimera or
    Vladislav of Vablota or
    Toromir Milov

Please do not answer my question with speculation, and read throughly through this and the first post before answering. I really need this info because I want to marry my leader and or heir to other factions princesses, and I always get the Wife is a Wretch trait, which is stupid.

    Thanks for any help.

PS. and the reason why give_trait this doesnt work on characters of other factions is because you cannot select ppl of other factions, believe me I tried

Not strictly the solution you're looking for but you could do the following:

Use give_trait WifeIsCharming on your general after marriage and there you have it problem solved. Also this way she will be less Charming and therefore be 'cheaper' to get.

Would like to know the answer to your question myself I havent been able to do this either, so I'm currently using the above method.

I am not completely sure where I have read it, but I beleave it should be: Georgia_ofChimara. This should work for all names like this one.

use speech mark thingys around the name, always worked in rome when trying to add to a generals army which was more than 1 word. ie i would assume

    "Georgia of Chimara"

should work, if not try with underscores, no gaps etc, but that should work.

In RTW, for that name you'd use "Georgia of_Chimera" doesn't work for M2TW though, so not sure what the new format is.

I'm sure the "firstname de_surname" format works for "Firstname de Surname" because they are born with that name.

However, when a player has been given a name based on a trait "Henry the Chivalrous" I have had some success by just using their firstname ie "Henry"

I've had some problems with characters in the "Firstname Surname" format though... "Jasper Becket" for example.

If they are given a title, you need to remember their actual name which is the one the game still uses.

I wish people would stop posting speculation here, I know if its possible someone is out there doing it, or maybe its not possible, that wouldnt surprise me.

I tried the "Firstname de_Surname" on someone say, Viktor Andreev, so I put in
    give_trait "Viktor de_Andreev" Intelligent 2
to test it out, and I noticed it worked in the console but when I clicked on the person there was nothing new there on his trait list, so I did a couple more, and on one of the ones I did there was a little trait increase message on the side of the screen, so I clicked on it and it said that Viktor the Missionary had a trait increase in something I gave him accidentaly.

So Viktor the Missionary was a priest on the other side of the map, I dont know what his last name WAS before Missionary got added to it, but he received the traits I was trying to give Viktor Andreev.

So "Firstname de_Surname" doesnt work, at least not how its suppossed to anyway.

Does anyone know what they are doing? I have tried at least 50 permutations to no avail, even while following MedievalShell help advice. Let me know. Thanks!

I just wanted to make clear that nothing posted above so far has worked. The "Firstname de_Surname" had results, but unexpected ones.

the de_surname works for characters with a "de" in their name as in Simon De Montfort. I don't see why you'd think it would work with a name without "de".

Basically, the game references the characters in a 'database' by name. This name is kept constant but the display name is not (so "the chivalrous" may be added on the display but you will still need to know what their 'database' name is).

As I said in my post, I have had trouble with characters who have the traditional "firstname surname" format.

The conclusion I come to is that this feature is erratic at best.
