    Default Hypothesis: There will be a HotSeat mode in M2TW

    I just applied the patch on my sys as I finally got some personal stuff done and over with.
    When I checked the preferences.cfg as I wanted to ensure my old settings still applied, I found the following added to it:

    [multiplayer]
    hotseat_autoresolve_battles = 0
    hotseat_disable_console = 1
    hotseat_disable_papal_elections = 0
    hotseat_save_prefs = 0
    hotseat_update_ai_camera = 0
    hotseat_validate_diplomacy = 1

    Interesting eh? Sounds very much like CA is planning on some hotseat multiplayer campaign action there!
    I just wonder how the battles will be handled if autoresolve is 0...or maybe it will be over LAN instead but called Hotseat?

    Interesting. I've never seen the technical problem with a MP campaign. Myrddraal modded it into RTW with only a few lines of script. It's autoresolve only, but even then transferring a campaign battle into a MP one seems trivial to my untutored eye. (I am doing something close to that by hand for a PBM in the Throne Room right now).

    I suspect the market for a MP campaign is rather limited - it would be so slow and lengthy at a distance. But a hotseat model for play with friends and relatives does seem feasible, if still a rather niche thing.

    I have done it, but if you enable it (there are mods everywhere for it now) EVERY battle becomes auto, not just between humans. In addition, there is no diplomacy between Human Factions.

    No real worries on the diplomacy front.. if you want to play cooperatively you can set yourselves allied w/ military access in the descr_strat file...

    But what if you want it like normal? If you could mod faction stuff mid campaign..or can you? Medmanager allows turn change in game yes? If so maybe it could work for diplo. Much work for small problem though.

    Just seems like people playing hotseat are either going to be going into it with the idea that they're allies or enemies and not likely to change...

    i played around with this for a few turns the other night. its still possible to fight battles, the only problem with it, is that if u fight player on player, only the person who actually instigates the fight, ie the attacker can command his forces. for example, i was playing with england and france, i sent my french army to attack the english, i was able to command and thouroughly thrash the english and when my next turn came round as the english my stack was MIA lol.

    This is not correct.
    You make an offer and when it is the other players turn the diplo-window pops up an he than can accept or reject etc.

    If diplomacy works then what am i doing as only one faction?

    about this, which people have posted there experiences and the like. It is far from a polished product and imo i think CA just put it in as a kinda extra thing, or possibly if it has only come around after the patch, a future thing, for now its kinda unstable and a bit crazy at times to play lol.
