Ok you can d/l this thing now if you like, but heed this:

Don't complain about Heraldry or Coat of Arms or titles not being perfectly historical to me AT ALL unless you have the new graphic ready, the new title in text to tell me, and you can email it all to me. Otherwise go do your own homework and research and whine to me later.

Ok, lecture over here's the link (v1.2b)(21 Dec 06)

    OLD original post:
    -------------
Also modded in Archbishops- each Faction gets *one* Archbishop when you have a cathedral. The can either go + piety or - piety depending on how corrupt they are.

The Patriarch in my screenshot obviously got corrupted by the office! LOL. No piety for him!

Titles are based on a mod by Rawghi
    https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showt...ghlight=herald

His mod had about half the art done so I finished it up and redid a few of the titles... also changed the coding to allow the AI to claim titles too. Not sure what the reward should be for having a title... loyalty doesn't seem good because nobles rebel... I dunno yet...

That looks pretty cool, its nice to see the byzintines get some religious leadership, when/where will it be ready for d/l?

Well just the Archbishop stuff is ready now- but... I mean... it doesn't do much, just manipulate their piety. I was going to give it a day to see if I (or someone) came up with an idea that made this more interesting. Right now it adds to the roleplay a bit... but that is all.

Will we have a non-corrupt Patriarch? After all, Patriarchs had much less power, so wouldn't a corrupt patriarch be harder to find?

Good idea, but each country Orthodox church is independant and has it's own patriarch. The Greeks for 1200 years still try to sobordinate all the other Orthodox churches.

It should be "Patriarch of Constantinople".

Yeah whatever... I'll get around to changing things when I can. As I said more game/role play at my end than historical nitpikiness...

For those interested the file is available. Link in the first post

Bump. New version 1.1 available. Fixed a few minor things. Save game compatible.

    As i mentioned to Rawghi:

A combination of ancillary bonuses for each title followed up by a inherited "provincial aid" works well (forgive me for using my old cheesy examples here):

Title Earl of Nottingham +1 loyalty +1 command
(and IF Earl of Nottingham and IF Council Chambers exist)
Sheriff of Nottingham + Law + Authority

bearing in mind the wealth and land ownership of (all) the churches at the time one can also consider:

Earl of Caernarfon +loyalty + command
(and IF Cathedral and IF Earl of Caernarfon)
    Bishop of Wales +piety +commerce +tax

My personal feeling/idea being that a title can convey political and military power to somebody (and thus engendered loyalty) but to *earn* the tied/associated ancillary one (the governor) has to work to achieve them; by building something in that province to gain some extra benefit even if its as obscure as "Authorised seller of Orthodox Iconography" +10% commerce income (or whatever).

Give it some RPG though and make the governor/titled person earn it, AND then make the result something identifiable and unique wherever possible (PLUS useful!)

Dont care about bowing to every historical accuracy, just give us something that is useful, fun and has to be achieved.

the read me should explain that.

Then just run the game with a .BAT file (make a text file save it as yourgame.bat), it should contain:

    medieval2.exe --io.file_first

One last bump for the day:

Ok, I posted ANOTHER update folks- I got all anxious to put in PRIVY COUNCIL members so now you get:

Privy Seal, Chamberlain, Marshall, Master of the Horse, King's Treasurer, Lord Steward, etc... You get these for Islamic factions too... I figure they have equivalent positions and I don't want them to be too underpowered (though these offices add minimal gameplay effects).

Enjoy your new roleplaying possibilities! (link in original post)

    should be v1.2 now.

v1.2a released. Fixed a potentially BAD crash bug. And cleaned up some triggers.

    enjoy.
