Yes - I think we should allow the Chancellor to use the "surround and destroy" work around. It takes about 10 units to do, so is not that easy. I like to think of it as scouring the countryside to hunt down the annoying ******s.Originally Posted by TinCow
Running away from inquisitors is also a very good counter! At one stage in one of my English campaigns, I had about six settlements on the continent but only one general. (OK, this was partly because the inquisitors had burnt most of the others...)
I've honestly never had any Inquisitor problems. Then again, I never really have any problems with avatars I don't want in my land. Master Assassin's Guilds help prevent such things.
Yup, the ol' heresy barbeque adds a certain spice, if you can call random almost unkillable doom a spice, to the current game lacking in RTW.
On the other hand, annoying inquisitors will make the eventual sack of Rome all that more satisfying. "This is for my Grandpa you burn happy @#$!@!"
Oh and just think of the roleplaying possibilities if one of the avatars gets the plague!
It's a brave new world.

Btw guys.Should we make a little tweak to the game and allow building of Landsknechts on some high end building? I think that we should be able to access Pike men as HRE,other then just mercs.Opinions?

Despite my previous attempt at humor, I have a somewhat serious question. Is there an image hosting site any of you would recommend over the others?
I used ImageShack for the stuff I did recently but only because it it was linked in the PBM FAQ. The interface and the weird login mechanic seem a bit clunky.
Thanks.
Edit: As for modding the game more, the more changes we make, the more likely we'll run into stability issues. Another question is accesibility, even adding a simple mode like Medifix caused some hiccups among some of us. We wouldn't want to drive away active players (i.e. those who could download, play and upload the game, or "lower house" in WotS speak). Just my two cents.

I use Imageshack mostly but Photobucket is usefull also.
Ja Mata Tosainu Sama.
Photobucket you have to register, and then some people cant view it.
Imageshack has less types of files and a smaller size, but it shouldnt matter. Plus you dont have to register to do anything.
I use photobucket, never had any problems with it. Registering is no hassle.
I ran into some issues uploading a lot of pictures at once with photobucket. Sometimes it took too long to upload the files or at times it'd just skip images altogether. Which is the main reason I now merely use Imageshack.us

So nobody has an opinion about Landsknecht pikemen? I could do the changes this evening if wanted. No biggie.![]()
Ja Mata Tosainu Sama.
I believe the general consensus is that we don't want to overcomplicate the necessary downloads for the game, so don't worry about the landsnecht's. Historically, if I remember correctly, they were mercenaries anyway.
I'm inclined to leave it as it is. My vague understanding is that the Landsknechts actually were professional mercs, whereas the pike militia we recruit from our settlements is lower grade feudal foot and militia. Plus the Landsknecht's look rather formiddable by their stats and I am not sure our historical army rules provide that much of a check on creating overpowered armies. If they are mercs, they may be regarded as a bit more of a valuable commodity. I don't know how rare they are in the later game, but I have had no problem relying on mercenary spearmen as England, for example.Originally Posted by Kagemusha

Allright. Then we will play the game without trained pikes.Btw The English also have the unit armored sergeants in the game.Just becouse of some CA balancing they decided to leave those out of the campaign. But available on custom battles.
But these things are more related with M2TW in general. Not this great game we are having. So we will rely on merc pikes and militia on the late part of the game.
PS.If you guys chance your mind or want for example make the change on the Forlorn hope suggested in the original post.I can do the changes and embed the files on the same download as the medifix. Changing Landsknecht for trainable unit needs edit of two text files.Fix for Forlorn hope propably one.![]()

WOOT! Great news, and one question.
First, the question. If I've unpacked all the files using the unpacker, do I need to replace the old files with the new medifix files in order for medifix to run properly? Or do I simply leave the medifix files in the m2 directory rather than the m2/data directory?
Secondly, the great news. I got my desktop to work again! I have no clue what was wrong with it, but I took it to this little computer shop down the street and the guy just...plugged it in and changed one tiny thing in the bios that I could swear up and down I tried a million times, and the b#*(&@d worked.
So, now we get to see Dietrich's battle reports with desktop pics instead of laptop ones.
Example -
Laptop shots.

Needless to say, I am very pleased with myself right now.
That last picture alone looks like you could right a whole story about it, very fond of that one I am.

That would be good - we do want to mod that, otherwise the Forlorn Hope will be useless. I have not prioritised it as it will be a while before we can recruit them and CA may even have patched the game by that time (prays for a savegame compatible patch....)Originally Posted by Kagemusha

Fix them without making them overly powerful mind you, as the current 2h fix is alleged to be.
Here is the fix.I only changed the unit so it has now two hitpoints instead of one. Just extract the file in your Mod folder.![]()

I thought the forlorn hope suffered from the 2 hand issue? Or maybe I'm just confused.
Nope the "billmen" bug doesnt effect them as far as i know. They are just useless with their current stats.

Is there a complete roster of who is who and what house they are from somewhere on these boards? As a new fellow, it is not easy keeping all the Wolfgang Von Warstormingburgenhoffs straight!
Indeed there is. It can be found in the first post in the Chancellor and governor reports thread. The same information can also be found in the in the Royal Family Information section (Post #4) of the Imperial Library. The Library itself is stickied at the very top of the forum.Originally Posted by IvarrWolfsong

Great stories, econ and Ivarr.
Lots of work to do tonight, I won't be able to pick up the savegame until tomorrow. Things are going better than expected expansion-wise.

Thanks. Rather foolishly, I did not realise the spoiler tags don't obviate the need to shrink the jpgs a little to avoid that horrible horizontal scroll. I will resize them when loading onto imageshack next time.Originally Posted by GeneralHankerchief
