Hmmm I found their use to be rather limited.
They are very weak against any cavalry that is ranged (incl jav), but can do a good deal of damage against bodyguards in a melee fight. However, they cannot keep up with chivalric knights on the other hand, even if they are on top of a slope - possibly because there are more chivs than bodyguards usually.
Against infantry, they are decent, but not too strong due to their own limited number and missile fire strips them of their hp very quickly. Quite useless for storming walls again due to limited number.
I ended up using them to attack missile-fire depleted units that have walked long distances towards me already.
Thats hashashim btw. Battlefield assassins are probably worse because their stats are worse.
I think what they really lack is "fast moving" and a few extra men - they only have 24 while most other sword infantry have 48 or 60.

I think that in an infantry battle they'd be worthwhile, but against cavalry they'd be swept away (hit points don't matter on a charge iirc) and against missiles they'd be shot to pieces

Not sure how they hold up to a charge but if you can get them into melee with a generals unit they can definately take them down, where they really come into their own though is defending, and storming to a lesser extent, castle walls.
I use them as the moors along with Urban Militia as the backbone of my infantry, and they are very useful as the Turks as well. One of the main problems with them is the fact that that you can't upgrade their armour, their smaller unit size doesn't seem to hamper them much but I haven't got to the later stages yet as I keep getting bored and re-starting.
What I like about them - they don't route. At least they never have in my battles. If you need to slow down the enemy, they will be tremendously effective.
Sending two or three hashishim units against Urban Militia usually routs the enemey, not my guys ;)
I used them to assault cities and guard my artillery.
well .. but how good are they when defending citys??
in my current egypt campaign i have 3 hashashimi and 2 saracen militia in jerusalem and an almost full stack crusaiding milaneese army attacking it ..
is there any hope to defend the city???![]()
any tips or ideas??
my nearest army cannot reach to help the defenders and i think crusaders will attack next turn :(
btw i know how they are spelled but for me it's much easier to say hashashimi ;)
They're even more useful if you boost their hp's to 3 =]

Drink water.
Im currently playing on huge unit size, and the Hashashims are probably the best infantry I've used. The only cavalry they're useful against is the GB, but despite the number difference, no other infantry stands a chance. The stoned bastards usually only suffer about 10 casualties against other heavy infantry, but JHI and Swiss Guard take a big chunk outta them before routing...
ick
infantry units with 2 or more hit points generally do very well defending walls, because once you're on the wall, unit size doesn't really matter as much due to the enclosed space. High morale is also very important when attacking/defending walls, and Hashishim has it.
They are not that great against enemy generals. Although you could surprise and occupy a BG unit withi them for a short time until you attack that unit with something else.Originally Posted by SultanSaladin
Hashi are best used against enemy infantry, supported by other troops, or (obviously) in ambush. They are useful in cities. They are a fun unit.

The mod make Hungary how it suppose to have been with Battlefield assassins. It makes them the most powerful ambush units-I love Ambushing.
I love Hungary;I get bunch of horse archers with Battlefield assassins and some heavy amour spear-men jest for defense, so the horse archers really much jest shoot the crap out of enemy and than my spear men jest defend against the enemy army until my sexy Battlefield assassins show up and slather and thing in there way.
I;ve played Tw games all my life and;I personally love Hungary;you jest got to make up your own strategy and go for victory, not jest keep asking people is this faction good is That should I do that or That;jest play the game and enjoy.
