    Default Released! End of Days

Halie Satanus (Satanea Juda) and Makanyane
are proud to announce the release of
    End of Days
    A modification for BI 1.6

Chronicling the rise of the Satanic nation of Magog, End of Days will transport you into an alternative history of darkness and evil. There are seven playable factions including; the Kingdom of Albion, the Nation of Islam, Francia, Germanicae, the Shambhala (Buddhist warrior monks), Hispania and the Satanae. The action starts in 666ad as the Dark Lords begin to gather their forces to bring darkness to the world and pave the way for the Anti-Christ.

End of Days is a full conversion mod for BI 1.6 contained within its own mod-folder - so vanilla BI and any other mod-folder only mods remain playable.

    ********************************

The eight main factions, pagan rebels and mercenaries all have complete sets of new units and all units have sprites. Graphical interface, map and texts are re-worked to give you an altogether 'darker' feel!.

The campaign map is loosely based on vanilla but has extra territories at strategic points and an extension to the east to provide a base for the Shambhala. Their are five religions, Christianity, Islam, Satanic, Buddhist & Pagan; the AI now automatically converts captured settlements to the correct religion for the occupying faction
(and so do you, so prepare for a little religious unrest!).

    ********************************

There are almost no rebel ships so factions have much more freedom to attack by sea, this means we can almost guarantee that you will have full stack enemies landing on your shores!. From experience during play testing the mod we have found that with the reduced number of factions the AI performs much better than in vanilla games. Expect the unexpected!!.

Patch v1.01: (patch is not included in v1.0 download) see here for details
    FileFront
    Patch on filemonster

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, SUMMARY: (please also read the EOD READ ME.txt in download)

Modification must be installed over an unmodified copy of the Rome - Total War, Barbarian Invasion expansion patched to version 1.6. Please see additional instructions here if you already have another mod-folder mod installed.

TO INSTALL: You MUST make a COPY of the entire BI folder within the Rome - Total War directory, do this using the copy and paste commands, so you end up with a folder named 'bi' and a folder named 'Copy of bi'

Re-name the folder called 'Copy of bi' to 'eod' (without the quotation marks)
Drag the eod folder into the bi folder so the file path to it is now:
    Rome - Total War/bi/eod

Launch the installer and browse to direct it to the Rome - Total War directory where you have just carried out these operations. Path in installer should look like:
    C:\program files\activision\Rome - Total War
or your equivalent (do not include \bi in the file path), run installer.

Download the file for patch v1.01 and launch installer for that, install to same directory you used above.

To play game make new shortcut to BI.exe and add space-mod:bi/eod space-show_err to the target line, so your target line looks similar to:
    "C:\program files\activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:bi/eod -show_err

    *************************************

    PLAYING INSTRUCTIONS:

IT'S MEANT TO BE EASY AT THE BEGINNING !!!

Please do not be put off and think game will remain easy - it won't. Factions are initially widely spaced and the rebels relatively docile, this allows the player some years of expansion before the large battles commence. Use this time wisely to enhance your economy and military might, you'll need both later.

Recommended settings for game are difficulty levels of 'Possessed' for both campaign and battle settings, unless you're feeling brave and fancy 'Pandemonium' - also use large unit size (set in video options - advanced)

Looks good but shouldn't the game start on 616AD? This is because 616 is the number of the devil while 666 is only classed as the number because of how popular it is and of a mistranslation. I'm sorry if that minor detail is insulting but I can't wait to try this mod out

    Fantastic news
Although you put me in a fix, shoul I rather try this mod, go on with my FATW campaign or start a new M2TW campaign So many games, so little time...

[edit]you could say the problem solved itself. My download failed (or rather, was declared as "complete") after 138MB, means I now don´t have the capacity to try again for about a month

Sorry to hear that, which DL site where you using? I used uploaded.to as experiment because some of the other DL sites seemed to be having problems, would be interested in any feedback if there are problems with either of them.

@UltraWar: I wouldn't take the start date too seriously either for historical or theological purposes! Hope you enjoy the mod anyway

@wlesmana & Dol Guldur: Its' nice to be wanted - but, on the grounds he can disconnect my computer if I don't - I'm going to have to work on wilddog's mod!

That happened with upload.to, but it´s not your fault, I´ve already had this problem some times, with other sites as well. Usually a second/third try does it. My problem is just I´ve got only 500MB download capacity, and now I´m almost out of capacity for this month.

Wow, this looks simply amazing! I also really like the inclusion of Maiden in it

However, i dont think i'll be able to run it now, i need to get my new CPU to run all these games with huge unit sizes, i tried it with ATW and it just dont work.
Well, it did, but it was jumpy as hell.

We actually recommend using large unit settings for the mod, as that is what campaign was tested on. We do have sprites for all the units but not low poly lods (ah probably more technical info. than you needed). ATW's first version I think didn't have sprites, so depending on which version of that you tried, you may find EOD runs better due to having sprites. My old computer ran it fine and no-one else (touch wood) has reported problems....
... if you give us your machine specs. I'll see if I can find out if anyone is running on comparable machine.

I hope that if you will make a new pacht or a new release, you will insert also an eastern european orthodox christian faction (such as the Byzantine remnants, or why not - the Vlahs ...)

Ahh, managed to forget in install instructions to take into account anyone already having another mod-folder mod (eg. Fourth Age Total War) already installed within the BI folder.

Following the read-me installation instructions won't have done any harm to either mod but you may find you have an additional unnecessary copy of the other mod! Please see additional instructions here if you already have / had another mod-folder mod installed.

@Rex_Pelasgorum I think any Byzantine remnants would very quickly fall victim to a certain other faction starting in that area! There's also a technical problem with adding too many religions in BI, in that only the first three cause unrest. Glad you like it anyway

Well it was a good plan to try and work that out, wanted to compare yours to the two machines it was mainly tested on, that's hampered slightly by fact neither of us can quite work out what our graphics card specs were, or what yours is equivalent to!
One m/c was AMD athlon xp 2000+ (1.67GHz) 512 MB ram, with replacement (not sure exactly what) graphics card.
Other was early pentium 2.4 with about 1GB ram and ATI 9600+ series (can't remember exactly what) 128mb graphics card.

I'd generally vote for if you can run vanilla on huge settings you should be OK for this on large - but don't shoot me if I'm wrong!

Oh and, you know the loading screen with the maiden lyrics? My friend and I were in the pub, trying to work out what it was for about 4 hours the other night lol, and just as i was leaving i realised it was Die With your Boots on lol!

Had the chance to download it just yesterday, now I´m doing a Francia campaign
So far, I´ve managed to conquer almost all of the French lands, however, the Kingdom of Albion and me went to war over the privilege to besiege Burgo.
My favourite unit are the Illuminati Knights, they´re devastating, every unit I come across is hired immediately.

I really like the recruitment system, by the way, with the weaker units being replaced by stronger ones. It encourages the diversification of my settlements (since the exp 1 pikes rule the battlefield).

I wonder, will you make an update for EoD, with new units, I mean? For if you do, I think crossbows wouldn´t feel out of place, as well as having a cannon would be neat, it would fit very well into the setting, in my opinion.

Glad your enjoying it...watch out though, there is a nasty supprise that affects the Francia more than any other faction....Cannons were on the list of things to do, though only for the Shambhala, but in the end it became a bit of 'to much effort for to little payoff', so they were cut, might have a fiddle with them but probably not....There is talk of a follow up/exspansion but not for some time..

Another nasty surprise? Having Wien doing a Loyalist revolt and thus plunging me into war with the Satanae again - with whom I had allied before to fight off Albion - was nasty enough, those loyalist revolts tend to ruin my strategic planning a lot lately, first one in FATW, now this...

Anyways, the first Satanae attempt to take Wien ended with a... surprise, my garrison of barely 600, all militia level, managed not only to hold back an experienced and well equipped Satanae army of nearly 2,000 men, but to utterly crush it. Those Militia Pikes are worth their weight in gold several times over.

Forget about the cannon idea, it was a wild shot, since the implementation seemed simple enough, from what I´ve seen in the Citadel or Warhammer mod.

Yup, defending a town with a lot of pikemen should generally give you a win, especially if you do so by placing your men around the town center, there's not much we could do to prevent that, however i do wonder what year your at, up until around 710 the units your facing are the middle order for most factions, i doubt you'll hold that town once the Satanae start recruiting top order units. I've definatly lost a couple of battle like that.

Oh aarrgh! Not sure on that - it does take a while sometimes to get beyond that first loading screen - did it crash out of it or just sit there? Did you put -show_err on the shortcut, and if so did it give error message?

Most common install problems are;A. you weren't actually patched to version 1.6 launch normal BI game, go into options and see what it says in top right corner.
    B. you forgot to make copy of the contents of the BI folder and move it to right place (bi/eod folder) before running installer - though that should give you error message.

Very outside chance, your comp. might not like intro video (if it is that it will be effecting normal BI as well - post and I'll explain how to switch back) to test if that is case add a space and then -nm to your shortcut as well.
