Wow, that certainly was odd, I've never had that happen to me when facing an actual faction. I've had rebels "surrender" a few times when they had no place to retreat, though.

It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.
