    Default Rise of the Gallic Confederacy: Head Chieftain reports

    This thread is for the posting of in-character reports to the Confederacy by Head Chieftains in the Gallic Confederacy PBM thread:

    https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=77509

    Out-of-character discussion of the campaign should be in the link above.

    In-character Gallic discussion of these reports should be confined to the Confederacy deliberations thread. (The reason for separating the two is to keep the Confederacy deliberations thread largely free of screenshots for ease of use. And to allow Head Chieftains' after-action reports to be archived separately from more ephemeral debate.)

    A Concise History of the Confederacy

    Notes for Head Chieftains:

    (1) You must present a mid-term report at the end of your 5th turn and an end-term report at the end your 10th turn. If your avatar dies, you must stop playing and submit an end-term report. It is essential that these reports be posted promptly, as Confederacy sessions cannot be opened until the reports are in.

    (2) Your mid-term and end-term reports should include at a minimum:
    (a) a savegame uploaded to the Org;
    (b) a list of enemies and allies;
    (c) current revenue, expenditures and balance in the treasury
    (d) description of salient events (e.g. battles, diplomatic overtures etc) to date;
    (e) recommendations for future action (yours, if mid-term; the next Head Chieftains, if end-term.
    Anything else - screenshots, battle reports, stories etc - is welcome but not essential. If you post screenshots, please do so in jpg format, reduced to 75% size.

    (3) You must report ASAP any new faction members that are spawned (including infants), so that they may be assigned to other participants as avatars. Please give full details - name, date and season of spawn, relation to family tree, age, location, stats, traits, ancillaries, everything.

    (4) If a Chieftain gets into a battle, press escape at the pre-battle window, save the game, stop playing and upload the save to the Org upload directory. PM the participant and ask him to play out the battle, uploading the new save within 48 hours of your PM. If he fails to do this, autoresolve the battle and continue your reign.

    Mid-term report from Head Chieftain Brennus (Summer 270 - Summer 268)

    WORK IN PROGRESS !

    Brennus was sitting near the fire. Finally, the Gallic tribes were united again. The quarrels were put aside, and now it was the time for great deeds. Rome was the ultimate prize. The gauls needed not only to plunder Rome, but to destroy and occupy it!

    But there was alot to learn from those Romans. Yes, they were the enemy. Despicable enemies. But also clever enemies. One of their strenghts is the speed of their armies. Great warriors, brave deeds on the battlefield, all of that was of no use if the armies couldn't move fast to the places where they were needed.

    Roads ! We need roads ! This is what has to be done first! The Gauls needed to build roads. Not only would it make our armies march as fast as the Roman legions, but it would also bring good fortune: trade and travelling foreigners, learning the Gauls some new ways, new habits.

    And thus roads were builded. And of course, the army was fortified with new troops, to make good use of those roads.

    Vindex, my son, will be sent to Massilia as soon as possible to take the settlement, as decided in our Senate. In the summer of 269 BC he besieged Massilia. He assaulted those petty rebels and after a short but fierce battle occupied it in the winter of 269 BC. After he had the settlement under control, he left it, leaving a small garrison. I ordered him to march to his brother, Epiredorix, to reinforce the garrisons of Mediolanum and Patavium. The Romans will think twice before attacking our settlements in Gallia Cisalpina now.

    Senaculus was doing a great job in Italy, getting trade rights from the Roman Senate and the three most influential Roman families.

    Hah, the cunning diplomat even managed to get some gold of those fools, while we should have been paying them!

    The Germans came to us, begging to get trade rights granted.

    Those dumb Germans even gave us valuable information about their homelands. Ha!

    Meanwhile, I assembled my troops in Alesia and I marched for Semarobrova. Time to teach those Britons a lesson! In the Summer of 268 BC I am besieging their threatening settlement, situated close to our homelands.

    So now, fellow Chieftains, we are at war with Britannia.

    Mighty foes who are not to be underestimated.
