Thread: mission completion problem

    Default mission completion problem

I just started the England campaign and so far I got a few missions:

One was to send a priest to Caen, what I did but but the mission still failed.

In another mission I should deploy at least 4 more units to York, so I recruited 4
peasant units and sent them over, but the mission still failed.

What am I doing wrong? I don't want to miss most of the mission rewards.

Peasent only count as half a unit, and the preist had to be actually recruited in Cean, sending one over won't do the mission.

Why can't the constantly babbling advisor tell me THAT. I even actually listened.

It is listed in the mission description. I'd turn him off as he's pretty usless TBH. the mission descriptions tell you more, allthough I discovered the Peasent thing by accident, it's not detailed anywhere that i know of.

Yeah, the advisors are okay if you are completely new to the series, but after a short campaign or two it is highly advised to turn them off as their advice is quite horrible in some circumstances

What bugs me are missions that will start a war or worse at a BAD time. I get the failure screen a lot.

I think missions need to be more flexible in the ways they can be achieved. Eg. Heretics should be either assassinated or denounced etc.

But isn't that the point of missions, in that they force you out of your comfort zone, starting wars you don't want, ending ones that you do? The inflexibility is the whole point right?

I love it when you get conflicting missions from say you nobles and the pope. Good gameplay is derived from making meaningful choices, and missions give you this avenue.

    I never listen to the missions :laugh4;

There's something slightly stupid about getting a mission to 'establish trade relations' with a faction with whomn you are at war

the worst mission is to negotiate another faction's settlement for one of your lesser. AI never agrees to it, and even if, I wouldn't trade a settlement anyways. what a stupid concept.

Actually, no. I love those. Go to war with them, bash a town, then ask for ceasefire. Return the settlement, and ask for the mission one. Or if you're already at war, then simply demand that settlement for a ceasefire. Hard to accomplish, but rather fun. A lot more interesting than the standard "grab province X".
Still maintain that crying on the pitch should warrant a 3 match ban

Except that this does not even work. The mission script is bugged. And besides, the cost outweight the benefits.

As for the OP's problem, you can move in units to the region, they don't have to be trained there, but yes, peasants count less.
