There is an uphill DISADVANTAGE. I was at the top, their 1,000 troops were at the bottom.

Doing the more powerful cavalry charge (single click) is devastating enough as it is, but the advantage of charging downhill was just too much. Using the cliffs on my left to protect from flanking, I would charge two units (which would only last a few seconds), rip them apart, run back, repeat.

Thats is what i am talking. One of the bugs i read is that when you are up you get disvantage. If you charge downhill the units lower have advantage because of the bugged animation.

I had a battle like that against the HRE. I had 4-5 units of cavalry, and they had many units of crossbows and a few dismounted feudal knights (or some other sword unit). Fortunately I didn't have to worry about having a bunch of long pointy sticks to deal with.

Ironically the HRE sent their crossbows in to get slaughtered first, followed up with their swords. I ended up avoiding the swords so I could take out their siege units, and then charged their swords from several directions.

Unfortunately my casualties were much higher...

Formed Charge effects aren't animation based strictly speaking, they just happen if the Cav in question hit somthing whilst charging, so this dosen't effect them, in any case I think that cav are unaffected even in normal fighting by it. They normally fight from a higher level than their ground based opponents anyway so they are barely effected.

Not quite as good on the kills/losses ratio, but the battlefield was pretty flat and I had fewer heavy cav.

Its actually quite tough to pull off a formed charge when on a steep slope. Half the time the cav will only march into the enemy formation due to unit spread. And when they do charge, it is a weaker formed charge due to units still falling behind on the terrain.

That is pretty darn good. Oddly enough, your kill/capture ratio was almost the complete opposite of mine. I guess I scared most of the enemy troops on some of my initial charges...

EDIT: I see, that was probably from the initial javelin throwing. I didn't realize that those were missile cav units.

I remember doing something similar on custom battle. One mongol heavy horse archer full up verse 20 units of eagle warriors no up. Just ran circles around the eagle warriors charging in whenever a unit is seperated. Didn't get bogged down but charged through everything. Had only 3 losses when enemy got down to 50% casualties, but then had a bad charge and was down to 20 men. After 10min of more cafeful charging, enemy down to about 150 men, but then made a fatal error and was down to 5 men, but enemy captain was killed. That 5 men single handedly killed all 150 left since they would run so fast that the eagle warriors didn't even get a chance to swing at anything

Gaugamela's over Gaugamela's in M2TW. It's kind of weird, because you can slaughter thousands with just 2-3 units.
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

IIRC, most of the kills actually came off of charges by my general. I'm pretty sure that I used the Jinetes javelins to take apart the general that was with the stack, while everything they had was chasing after my general. Since they were chasing my general, the faster infantry (6 or so units of pilgrims) began to seprate from the rest (merc spearment, huscarls, and DFKs) which is why I didn't get a chain rout.

Well, I dont' have any pics handy, but I've had a string of 20 losses/1-2k kills battles in both my HRE and Byz campaigns (the former knights against militia on every front - i was literally fighting every faction on the map, and the latter vards )
