Default "Man of the Hour" for a General

Sorry I know this has been asked before but it had never happened to me so I payed no attention
Anyway, I fought a battle with a General that I was particularly proud of and the battle went exceedingly well. But after the battle that very same General got "Man of the Hour" as though he was a captain.

So this leads me to two conclusions. Either:

    A: It was a bug

    or

B: The General was not married into the royal family and this was an offer to do just that thus increasing his loyalty.

Now I accepted this being a bit bewildered at the time and I then checked his traits and there was nothing new. Odd.

    Anyone know?

generals are accepted into the royal family with a man of the hour, increasing loyalty and potentially making baby napoleons.

They also tend to die before the adoption is completed half the time in my experience.

Only captains die and only if they are located inside a town at the time of message.

Also, generals do not get extra loyalty when accepted into the family by adoption. They only appear in your family tree and can be married off.

marrying them to one of your lovely princesses will help increase their loyalty though. Sometimes its good to 'shop around' and do several battles before you accept a man of the hour because sometimes if yer lucky you can get a fair general, most I've seen though is 3 command stars I think.
