    Default Is There A Way To Control Cannon Towers?

    Other than taking your units off the wall and moving all units a good distance away, is there any other way to keep your towers from firing when you want it to?

    When I am sieged and have a good enough garrison to sally, my cannon towers will rip me to shreds if I engage the enemy. It is pretty boring to wait for the enemy to take like 50% casualties before they retreat. Any mods? Looking for something as simple as an on/off switch for the wall/towers. I would also like to keep ranged units on the wall at the same time just in the enemy does happen to rush the city.

    Erm other than simply not building them or demolishing them before sallying, there is no way to control them. No on/off switch that is.
    Unless you want to cheat and give/remove money each time to build/demolish them and use process_cq to give them to a settlement.

    I cant wait to get the cannon towers so when so idiot does attack me i can sally out, but only to let my cannon towers do all the work and what not waiting for them just to say 'screw it, keep the joint' turnaround then sally out with my waiting cav to teach them for turning their backs on me

    I reckon ballista towers work better when you are being sieged, they have a tendency to actually destroy the siege equipment the AI is using

    As ballista vs cannon towers.

    Both can be effective but in different circumstances.

    eg If you have cannon towers (well for those of us who haven't fixed bug, I'd better say towers that fire cannon balls) they can be devastating if you sally forth - they can hit targets further away than ballistas and do more damage. (I say sally forth - I usually go and make a cup of tea and wait for the cannons to demolish 40-50% of the enemy army so it runs away.)

    Whereas ballistas seem to do a better job at siege equipment that is approaching and at close range.

    I have a slightly different tactic, as soon as they besige my city I attack out, but, I only come out with my generakl so that the door opens... And just wait for my canon towers to take them out, i put it on 3x speed so i smoke my joint and by the time the battle si over, they loose always more than half of their numbers..
    It gives a draw, but you have erased half of their numbers without loosing 1 unit yourself

    Fixing the cannon / ballista problem - I was going to point in the general direction of the link that Durallan has in his sig line.

    Only when I tried it there was nothing there.

    (Will go away and see if I can find another fix for the bug)

    It would indeed be nice if you could select the target or choose whether to use flaming ammo. Is that on the 1.3 Wishlist already?

    I dont think the AI has ever attempted to assault one of my cities. under seige a few times, but i fight them off before they have a chance.
