Yes you can get to it. It's a long trek though. There's an opening in the forest west from there, which you go through. Then it's a long path eastwards until you reach it. It's guarded by some 'special' units though. I've seen the AI attempt to take the settlement a couple of times, but usually it doesn't bother either.

Nice Scythian campaign you have going there.

I suggest taking out Perthia is a more worthy objective. To secure your eastern border and reduce the strength of the faction most like yours in fighting style (horse archers).

The 'unreachable town' doesnt have to be taken. But...you wont have really done RTW until you have. Allow about 5 years to get troops there and back...and then they will still be in the middle of nowhere.

    Good luck.

Yeah, I see the note "the Amazons" there, but had no idea that could've been chariots! :)
Well, whatever they have there, I'll take the town.
Thanks for letting me know it IS reachable.

Sure, as soon as I have enough troops in Campus Alanni I will attack the Parthians. It can't be any other way but this. But Campus Alanni is a weak town so far.

Yea you sometimes have to wonder why you bother don't you. Does anyone want to give away the ending to Sixth Sense whilst we're at? Paul_Kiss might not have seen that either yet.

    Themistikyra is indeed reachable.

I have taken it as a senate mission playing as Julii.

I have taken it in taking the entire map, also playing as Julii.

I have even taken it as the Egyptians, and by careful nurturing and building projects, turned it into a Large City that was profitable and well able to sustain itself.

There were only two problems with it, but I don't want to spoil the surprise! Go take it, and enjoy the show!

    envoy the walk too ^^
that's a nice, long way to go.

if you consider sending an army led by a family member, just make sure he is both a good general and a young one; mine died of old age just before he could siege the town...

What were you doing with your Julii to put you into this position? Did you take the Gauls then work East through Germany? Just curious, I'd like to have this experience myself, thanks

not exactly the kind of mission I enjoy

The first time it was a senate mission. The nearest available Army I had was over by Gaul, and by the time they got there my 10 turns were up, and I was more than halfway through my second 10. I took it, but was promptly thrown out in a revolt. By the time I could get a backup army to help take it again, the civil war had started. Looking at what I was up against, I decided that my army could be put to better use elsewhere. As for Gaul, they were still alive! The army that I sent Northeast from Gaul had it's original intention changed as I had planned on taking another Gallic city when the Senate mission came.

Remember, when the Senate mission goes contrary to your objectives, it's probably a good idea to ignore it. Example, as Julii, you already have 14 cities, and you have an army about to attack another Gallic city. If your objective as Julii is to take 14 territories and outlast Gaul, what good does it do you to march away from a Gallic city you're besieging, head Northeast about 15 turns, through some actually hostile people, to take a rebel town that you don't even need? The only way Themistikyra should become a need if you are Julii, is if it magically becomes Gallic. Finish off Gaul first!

I am not trying to discourage you from taking Themistikyra, but I guarantee you that taking it will cost you far more than any promised reward, or extermination looting profit. Take it when you want to, but not as a Senate mission.

The second time as Julii, I took it because my goal was a "redout", that being, take every territory. Kind of funny, I destroyed the last faction, Scipii, and when I hit "end turn" about half a dozen others revolted, and they were all gray. I then took those back, and had the entire map in red (except of course, the seas)! But Themistikyra was one of the red ones!

As the Egyptians, it was just part of my war of aggression in the long campaign. I took it relatively early, so I had plenty of time for it to become "Egyptian." There were a few revolts, but eventually, there was a Pharaoh's Palace, catapult range, and Foundry, and it was just as Egyptian as Thebes, Memphis, or Alexandria.

To take it from the West, I went Northeastward, only a little bit at a time as it won't accept the "green, red, blue line." You really have to tiptoe through the gaps in the forest to find the way there. Also, when it's a senate mission, you will be challenged by whoever's land you trespass on without securing military access. As the Egyptians, I had to go West, then turn North, and then inch my way Northeast. I'll resist the temptation to spoil the surprise. One thing which I would suggest is to take two full stacks of peasants along. One to occupy a town of 400 resentful people, and another to "discharge" into the city, thereby "diluting" the native population, and allowing it to increase to where you can build the next political building. I would not suggest discharging them all at once, but rather incrementally, with the remainder standing by outside. You should also take at least two (armoured) generals, preferably young ones who won't drop dead on the march. You should also build at least one fort nearby, and possibly two, one to keep peasants safe in. You don't want your poor peasants getting pneumonia!

Try it. It can be done. I have two campaigns going on right now, one as the Brutii, and the other in XGM. Now you have me contemplating going for it again in the Brutii campaign, but remember, if I do it, it's because I want to, not because some Senator with a purple stripe on his sleeve told me to.
