Post Invasion from the east: Saka AAR

Chapter One: A Push Westward [or A Dishonored Son]

Warning: The history I am about to give is not historical but what fits my AAR

We the Sakaians have been displaced by war, famine, and disease. The so called civilized people of the east have come into our lands and devistated our people and now expect us to leave them alone. We have been pushed west by them hoping to be left alone. The powerful kingdoms of Arche Seleukeia and Baktria stand in our way of prospairity and now war has been forced upon us. We shall prevail against the tyrannt.

A transcript found in the tomb of a Sakaian King:

    Spring 272:

We have finally found a city to settle down in in. We have sent a scouting party lead by my son to find a new city to conquer in our attempts to recreate our empire.

(Weeks of nothing has been found inbetween these two periods)

    Later Spring 272:

We have found a city on the other side of the mountians. I have sent my son and our largest army to attack this city. I hope he does not dissappoint me like he did earlier at the hands of the eastern barbarians. He has besieged the city for my name. They cowards have retreated into their city. These cowards are as smart as they look. They have forgotten walls! My son has launched his attack full of vigor. I hope for his sake that vigor does not replace rationality.

Found in another tomb set next to the one found with the transcription:

Father. I have started the seige of the city. Bin-kath is the horrid scum of our empire. The cockroach underneath our boot. I shall take it for the glory of our empire. I has caused us many pains in the past few years but now with me in the lead I will take it. The rebels holding this city shall be wiped from the face of the earth.

We used our range to take out their only defence against my noble horses. The arrows rained down on them with guidance from the heavens themselves. Each arrow struck its target with accuracy only we could have. Many defenders fell under us and the rest fell from the thunder of our hooves as we dashed across the plains to the city. We lost a few men the in the battle, may the Rest In Peace.

Father! We have won. I hope this has pleased you! I can only do what you ask of me and I have done it! The ghastly rebels have been put in there place! Oh father this is a day to remember in our history! I have put all the rebels to the sword and their familys as well to prevent rebellion! The skulls nailed the the doors of every family still left in the city to cause fear for your empire. The people of this city pose no more threat to us so we may move on to more important matters.

A letter transcript found in the tomb from his father:

You coward! You have disappointed me again. You have put innocents to the sword! You think that being a tyrant makes you great? You think mass killings are the answer to your disappointment? Your a disgrace to my family! I have no son.

    More to come

You know, you could get rid of that red line by adding
    -movie_cam
    to your shortcut target line.

EDIT: Looks promising so far. And may I add that you took a screenshot flatly contradicting your story? "Spring 272 BC" with a screenshot taken from "14 AD". (Script thingy.)

If you get the 272 thing you have to activate the script again, just click on one of your cities again.

    Chapter Two: A Kings Mercy

    Summer 272:

A new transcription found in the tomb of the king:

Sire, we have sent our finest diplomat to contact a family member of Baktria for trade rights for supplies for our empire. The foolish Baktrians don't know what we have instore for them. We have plans for them in the future but right now they are our last defence against the growing power to the south of us. If they fall, we fall.

Sire, our diplomat has used his cunning to trick the foolish Baktrians into accepting our demand. He has used many a cunning word to distract them from the more important matters to the south. He will be able to trick the Baktrains into more foolish demands after spending more time with their king.

An excerpt from the Kings diary:

Today we have come across some of the rebels. They wish not to become part of our growing empire. We shall crush them into oblivion but I will not do what my son did and slaughter them like pigs. These rebels are just defending their homeland but they do not understand that they will have more protection from us than they would by themselves.

We are victorious! Nobody can stand in my way! I have shown mercy to those who have decided to flee instead of face the wrath of my army and my empire. The citizens who have joined my army will be treated with the same respect that I treat my own people with. Sadly I think that the folly of my son has stuck to me and cause the populace to become a little disgruntled towords me.

Today is a glorious day for me! My daughter is getting married! My daughter is getting married to a man that is worthy of being my son! He will lead my empire after I pass on. Now that I have a new heir I can banish my son for what he has done to me and my empire's reputation.

Chapter 3: Rise Of A Kingdom

    Summer 272:

    More From The Kings Transcript:

We have attacked their settlement for the foolish rebels have left it unguarded with no walls.

We attacked at dawn catching half of them trying to leave the city. We sent in our archers first but the rebels sent one unit of horsemen to attack them. We hastling threw ourselves to protect our archers our men. We couldnt get their in time and their numbers fell from 25 to 10. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my men. In a blind fury I ran towards their horses. I know this is not kingly behavior but I could not allow them to kill my men and escape. We slew them until they could bare it no more and ran.

Another unit of horsemen came charging down the hill at us trying to save their friends. In my bloodlust I threw myself at them hoping to strike at the one who sent the orders to kill my men. I now know that it was the wrong thing to do but at the time I couldnt control myself. I swung my axe left and right hitting anything that I could. Not even ten strong oxen could hold me back. They were terrified at the sight of me and ran as well. They could not turn fast enough and they were cut down where they stood. They had managed to save their friends for a few more seconds.

I spotted him at last. The general who had ordered the charge against my men! I ran at him still in my bloodrage. After the battle I had many wounds that I had not realized during the battle. As I charged my other horsemen had passed me trying to save me surrounding the General. He fought valintly but it was all in vain. We had him surrounded and outnumbered. He thought that if he was caught he would have been put to the sword. My son's repuation no doubt. He fought until there was nothing left in him.

He died in vain. The village was ours. I hope he is up with his gods now. I have spared all the populace in exchange for their submission and they have become part of my empire expanding its borders once more. Now I have the Baktrians and Pavahla trapped in the north and now Sarumentea is to my east. I wish not to fight them but they may want my lands which I can not allow.

Chapter 4: Diplomacy Of The Empire

    Winter 272:

Transcript found in the tomb of the first king:

We have sent our trusted messenger to see the great king of Pahlava. He has rejected our proposals of peace before but I hope he can see reason and accept this time around. His son sees the growing might of our empire and begs his father to accept this time in fear of being conquered.

The cowardly king thinks he can hide behind a sheild of false aggresion! He is mistaken! But for now we have more pressing matters to attend to in our growing empire such as our money woes and the rebels that refuse to join us in our cause. I have let go of much of my original invading force and my, my sons and my trusted nobles are left, leaving the rest with their familys. They have suffered much already.

    Summer 270:

These past few years have been hard on us. We are in debt to the world. I have gone and gotten rid of the structures that we dont need and I am building new ones. I have sent our messenger to see the Selukid king to offer peace. I hope he accepts as we cant afford a war with the greatest power in the world.

Oh the joy! They have accepted leaving only the retched Pahlavians to wage war on us. They will be dealt with shortly after we can get bac on track. We are still in debt but are slowly climbing out. We have trade rights with the largest empire known the man. We shall see through though that their richest lands shall be ours.

Seconded. When I play horsearcher factions, I can never seemm to get good pictures like that, except for the occassional funny one of confused hoplites taking arrows from all sides.

On a side note, is this an EB renaissance of AARs? So many good ones coming out around the same time. Must be the inspiration of EB 8.0.

Chapter 5: Me and My Sons

    Winter 269:

Since I have disbanded my army, all I have left are me and my sons and the nobles guarding my city. I have taken my 3 loyal sons and left my ex-son in his rotting city to live amongst the people he has slaughtered. We have marched day and night to the outskirts of the rebel province only to be enveloped by the arms of a waiting army.

We marched across the plains quickly to give the enemy less time to use their range against us. Cursed rebels and their quick horses. I pray that one of my sons wouldn't get hit and die in my arms.

I sent my sons off to attack each of the contigent of horsemen to make their maneover around us and hit us in the back. However how heavily armed horsemen had a hard time catching up them and when we caught up they used their axes to great effect against our armour.

I had my own archers to chase down but in my old age it was harder for me than my sons to chase them. I lost many of my bodyguard. I am grieving for loss of them. They gave their lives for my kingdom and they will not forget them.

One of my sons is in peril! His body guard has been slain and he is now being hunted down! I knew this battle was a mistake! I should not have brought my sons into this peril! I have doomed me and my blood line! I am no better than my ex-son!

I sent my one of my other sons to help him get away. I only hope he gets there in time and allows my other son to get away! Brotherly courage I hope wins the day! I have destroyed much of the rebel army but they have destroyed much of mine too.

I have won but this is not a victory we shall celebrate. We have lost many of our brave souls today. I am forever grateful that my son survived but many other sons of other people did not. This victory shall not be mentioned in the history of our growing empire. I cannot win another victory like this. Another victory and we shall be undone.

A quality AAR. I particularly like the emotionally-turbulent king. His character really brings something original to the story, especially as he has abandoned his son, that was a nice narrative idea. Maybe when the land is in dire need of a saviour the disowned son can return, save the day and win back his father's love...

    Chapter 6: Calling All Sons

    Winter 267:

The cursed Baktrians have sent a raiding party at our men but we have driven them off! We did not want war but it has been forced upon us. They are dispicable. We have had trading rights since we arrived but they see no honor in that.

I have called my nobles into my army. We need all the help we can get. They have worn us down too much. I wish our allies did not betray us and we could call on them.

We have attempted to take the city. The rebels have fortified it well. I am worried that this is the place where my family tree dies. The roots have not been in the ground long and it will not take much for it to be uprooted. The battle is even in strength so it all relies on tatics and they have more ranged units than me.

We set our horses up as close to the city as possible. This will give our horses the max distance to gain speed but the least for the enemies to use their range against us.

We galloped full speed towards them pushing our horses to the max. They were terrified at the sight of us but could not go anywhere. They managed to loosen two rounds of arrows into our ranks but that was not enough to stop us. It only made us more furious.

We hit them with full force crushing many underneath our hooves. My son had been killed in the first charge! I flew into a rage that was unquenchable. I took on the strength of 4 men and I impaled men onto my axe. I have to stop letting my anger get the best of me in battles but I can't be calm when my men around me are getting killed when I could prevent it. The sounds of bones splintering and metal hitting flesh stood out above the sounds of men dieing and crying in pain.

They threw their archers into the fray hoping to bog us down. All it did was give our horses more men to step on and crush. Their unarmoured archers stood no chance against our heavily armed horses.

When we realized what we had down we had to retreat. Our men were depleted. They had won this battle. It was a great loss for both sides. They had lost over half their army and I had lost a son and most of mine including all my nobles who fought to the death. This was a victory that could not be won directly but through attrition. I had to do a thing that I know I would regret. I had to call up my ex-son.

So its a good one or bad due to the mass amount of pictures?

It's very good. Don't worry. Well, when I post in our internal forum (EBH), when I use mostly pictures I go into Saka mode, whereas when too much text is around, It's Baktria time.

If anything, some members of the EB wish me to burn in Hell slowly for my prolific pic-posting habits. Yet, when I must, I go into Saka mode, much like you over here. Dunno, must be the HA effect Saka have on people.
