Alright This is my last post for four days
Dont let this AAR go to waste![]()
Very interesting approach. An idea for a new AAR also might be not only following one unit, but only playing as that one unit. Each time your army plays the enemy, make all the other units go under AI control but yours. Then try to keep up with the others and make your unit do what it is supposed to. Sometimes you could turn the tide of battle, or your general could stink up the joint and ruin the battle with bad decisions.![]()
Just to let everyone know that this AAR is not dead
I was just on vacation
Just waiting for the next partOriginally Posted by deadmeat36

If you don't mind me asking, but why was the erstwhile heir to the throne, now the Pharoah-Basilios of Egypt, in command of a mere Pantodapoi battalion? Shouldn't he, in addition to being the army's general officer, be in command of an elite unit, like a Hetairoi squadron? And if the protagonist is himself an old soldier, then what did he mean when he said "I haven't been trained much"? I'm not trying to poke holes in your story, here. Just that I've found some things in it very confusing.

I can explain (hopefully)
The soldier one can be explained when I get further into detail in the story.
And the Basilios is in command if the best army so far outside of cities sadly![]()
Are you still writing this AAR Deadmeat? I was really enjoying it.

Chapter 4: Primo Macto (Part Two)
"Look," our units officer cried, "those cowards are trying to flank our phalanxes! Charge!"
"But why," asked a man in the back row, "they have done nothing this battle!"
"For the Bastilus thats why!"
We that remark nobody said anything anymore and we ran as fast as we could towards the cowardly horses trying to hit us from behind. The sounds of feet hitting the dirt and the dust kicked up by it flamed my imagination. I though that I was charging a monster from Hades himself.
Across the battlefield I heard our Bastilus cry, "Forward and give them no rest!" The dust kicked up by the horses made it impossible to see how the fight was going on in the city but the cheers of our men with every falling enemy gave me I good idea of who was winning.
"Don't let the right flank fall!"
"Hold!" and the screams of dieing men were floating all around the battlefield but the phalanx's just stood there doing nothing not even breaking a sweat underneath the blazing sun.
We had finally caught up to those dasterly coward horsemen. With no where left to run they charged at us with reckless abadon. We did what we were trained to do. We stood there and pointed our spears out preparing for impact.
"You ready," asked Alexander. I heard a whimper beside me. It was Phillip. Before I could say anything they hit us. They hit us so hard that men went flying. Before my eyes I saw Phillip's shield pentrated by a spear and the metal digging into his chest. The blood squirted all over me. I grabbed my spear and dug it into the Arabs chest so hard and furiously I heard bone splinted. I wanted him to feel pain. I grabbed the nearest rock and shoved it into his spine. I grabbed Phillip as he lay on the ground. As he spoke he coughed and choked on his blood.
"Demetrios please take care of my wife and son," and with that died the greatest man I had ever served with. I felt my eyes swell up with tears. I saw the rest of my unit chasing down the remaining horses. I picked up my spear and threw it into a horse. The horse fell and the rider with it. I ran up to him and cut his throat savoiring the blood on my face.
(Maybe three parts)

Damn poor Phillip. I think i would soil myself if all i had was a spear against charging horses. From your pics it looks like the infantry might as well go shirtless. Not much armor...although the hide covered shields are cool :)
