Thread: Charging

    Default Charging

After the 1.02 patch I'm still having problems with charging. It seems that infantry use the double-click to charge. It was suggested in another post that the single-click attack be used. I think this makes the AI take over with the 'may charge without orders' trait of knights and this is why the single-click is more successful. Any suggestions?

IMO no difference. Actually I think I take more casualties single click charging so I always use double. Besides, this way your formation has time to set up while going from speed 0 to 10 as with single click charging you run into the risk of your units not all forming up in time especially in rough terrain.

I have noticed the following with foot knights, if you single click attack, they will walk to charge range, then pause and the charge. If you single click insdie the charge range it appear that they will walk into contact with the enemy.

What the AI seems to do and what works for the player too... If you walk you infantry towards the enemy and then a little before the charge range is reached tell them to run, they will transition nicely fom the run into the charge without the pause...

If you double click inside the charge range of the unit I don't think they charge but simply run into contact with the enemy...

I think cavalry works the same but with a larger charge range...
