Hi all,
is there actually a limit to the number of troops you can stuff into a crusade/jihad? I guess not, so second question: is it possible to declare such a limit or is this a hardcoded feature? Thx

If I'm not mistaken, a normal troop stack can hold up to 16 units, with a max of 960 men total. Crusades/Jihads can hold up to 32 units, I assume they are maxed out at 1920 men total. Ship stacks are limited to 16 ships, I think.
I believe these numbers to be hardcoded. The only stacks you can modify are garrison stacks, these can be edited from the build prod file. I would assume that the garrison stacks cannot be larger than 960 men, haven't tried to change this myself though.

Something's gotta be off, then. I've had numerous Crusades & Jihads with well over 20,000 troops in them, and even my "average"-sized Crusades/Jihads have around 5000-8000 men.
(And yes, this is with a single Crusade/Jihad marker. I'm not including multiple Jihads or Crusades/Jihads with regular army stacks accompanying them as "backup".)
Are you sure it's not 32 stacks instead of units? Sorry, I know that's a stupid question, but offhand I just can't imagine what could explain that.![]()

Yes, everytime a crusade/jihad fills up to 16 units, the banner clears and a smaller banner appears to represent those 16. It then continues from there with more banners being added. I'm not exactly sure what the maximum is, though perhaps someone could test it?

Well I remember one bloke over at the official site's forums claiming he'd once had a Crusade of over 50,000 men. I've not tested that number personally, however, so I can't vouch for its accuracy.
My personal all-time high was a 32,000-man Jihad while playing the Fatamids/Mamluks. My largest Crusade was 24,000 troops (while playing Castille-Leon).
Knowing you, drone, I highly doubt you misread anything. As I said, I don't really think you would've mistaken units for stacks (or vice versa); I just don't have a good explanation for what those stats you referred to indicate.

The limit certainly must go into the thousands if there is any. I once put all my spare outdated troops from early into a crusade, hitting 9.000 (on default size) in doing so. I don't remember how many stacks they were, something like 10 maybe.
So there's no indication on a limit yet and no knowledge on moddability either.
Testing would be an option, though. Should I find the time.
