Under the ancillary file there are a stack of relic types objects that can be (in theory) be aquired by a crudade. Having just taken jerusalem by such means i did not get one which was expected. I thought such was a banker. Was i just unlucky or are thry not possible?
Anyone aquired these inany campaign.
version1.1 with faction Heirs vnv mod
Well i would say that when crusading you are lucky just to get any relics, usually you just get knight of... ancillaries. They are indeed very rare and all (or most) come from crusading holy lands so there´s limited changes to get them.
FactionHeir 12:41 05-28-2007
There are several conditions:
Firstly, your general must have more than 3 piety.
Secondly, the relic in question that you can get from the town is not already taken by another general.
Thirdly, your general has less than 8 ancillaries.

FAO Faction Heir.
Your mod appears ok for version 1.1. Thanks all for info

np, let me know if you got other questions.
HoreTore 13:50 05-28-2007
They appear when you take the cities in the levant, plus there is one in rome and one in constantinople. A few others too I think(I do believe there is another one in italy, and one in spain).
You have a 10% chance of getting it when you take the city, and a 20% chance when on a crusade/jihad.
Yeah, you got Crusade relics not only in Middle East territories. I once spotted an AI faction general got something like "Lombardy holy box" after a successful crusade against the city of Milan.

He uses my mod though, where the chances are higher. Been working on chances vs requirements for my newest version (to come out this week) still.

Aha, I knew there was one in northern Italy. Milan it is then. The correct name is Iron Crown of Lombardy, I think.

There's also a trigger in the file which apparently makes it that the Pope can give you (probably your king) a relic on a successfull high profile mission.

When my 4 Piety Hungarian faction leader took Constantinople off the Byzantiums (who had had it since the start), he gained "The Holy Lance". Its description says "... the spear that pierced Jesus during the crucifixion ..." +1 Piety +2 Command. This is in the latest vanilla version.
Let me know if this is a spoiler, it's my newbie 1st post

Yeah, got that one too, in a venitian campaign. When taking constantinople, you actually have 2 possible relics, the lance you got as well as the Bridle of Constantine(adds to piety). Jerusalem also has 2 possible relics.
Spoilers are welcomed here, btw.
Oh, and welcome to the Org!
FactionHeir 16:49 05-28-2007
Nothing wrong with that. And I don't think there is much one can spoil in terms of a TW game.
Agent Smith 16:54 05-28-2007
I actually didn't realize that that is how you obtain relics. Is there a file that has the triggers for all of them? I have a list of all of the relics in the game from the strat guide, but I'm not sure where they are all located.

What is the percentage of getting a holy relic? I've been playing as Spain and I've only got two they are the Holy Lance and the Shard of the Cross, my king got the shard as a reward from the pope and my heir has the lance from taking Antioch also the HRE have(that I know of)The Iron Crown and the turks have Hair from Mohammed Beard.
FactionHeir 19:19 05-28-2007
Chances in default 1.02 as Pugwash posted. The mission triggers don't actually work last I checked.

You can get the Turin Shroud at Constantinople as well. Take that Italy!

i get the seal of solomon when i launch a crusade against jerusalem, win a heroic victory vs the defenders and sack it. it adds dread and command when using cavalry.

I love this site for info on how to get relics, ancillaries, and traits. Everything it has to do with relics in my gaming experience has been true. The link is directly to the relics page. Once you look at this one though you'll be compelled to read all the rest o_O ...
http://noctalis.com/dis/totalwar/m2tw_relics.shtml
That website is very good, not only for the list of unique retinues but many other stuff aswell like traits, etc. In fact I recommend it...
Thanks much for the website. Had no idea of before you suggested it. ^^
Tschüß!

You can also drag and drop crusade relics between characters
