    Default Weird battlefield graphic effect

I thought I'd try out a horse archer only battle just to see if they are as good as everyone says they are.

It was a disaster but that's a diffferent story.

What really confused me was that as I was watching the action I kept seeing small groups of what looked like crouching archers appear close to horse archers. Almost as though they had dismounted. They would just appear on the screen for a few seconds and then dissappear again.

I was trying to work out if there was any pattern to the occurrence but the only thing I thought might have been triggering it was situations where the horse archers were being driven off by enemy cavalry. The unit seemed to gallop off and leave these crouching archers behind to confuse the enemy.

In fact it might be my imagination but it looked as though this ghost unit was distracting and being charged by the enemy horse, a bit like a decoy.

Weird anyway...my guess is its some sort of graphic gliche but I've never noticed it before, and I haven't even been drinking today.

The TW engine is full of graphical oddities, I've heard of 'ghost'units as well.

Last night I was playing RTR, I moved a FS out of Rhegium(toe of italina boot) to Croton. there was 2 generals in the stack, when I clicked on Croton, the commanding general walked halfway, stopped, and slowly faded away, then disappeared. The other general and all the units appeared 'on top' of Rhegium, like the small general dude with the banner indicating army size was superimposed over the town and wasn't selectable.

I reloaded cause I wasn;t about to give up my best general and biggest army.

I usually don't see crouching archers but somewhat weaponless ghosts of a 2 rank deep formation of infantry appear at random on the battlemap, usually clad in white and blue, sometimes white and red. They disappear when you pan the camera though

Ive seen that i dnt think its crouching archers its the sprites of the horse archers sans horse.

Heres an interesting one i picked up in a random battle. I call him the silver general.
