    I am signed up to play the Almoravids. And the Moors are not the same as the Almoravids, who didn't enter the Iberian peninsula until 1086. The Moorish-controlled territories there would be called Al-Andalus. In the start date of this game, they were fragmented into many small Taifa states, after the destruction of the Umayyad caliphate in 1031.

    RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.
