Romney, Giuliani, Thompson
I'd switch the order of #2 & #3, but that's about right.

I got Chris Dodd, whoever he may be. I had to skip a few questions I had no idea over, although come to think of it, with the US budget deficit I should have had a go at the tax one.
Hmm. Well according to what I read on his Wiki entry, Chris Dodd is pretty much A OK (other than for what seems to be an interest in accountants, or possibly more accurately their money). So, yeah, go Chris.
"The only thing I've gotten out of this thread is that Navaros is claiming that Satan gave Man meat. Awesome." Gorebag
I got Hunter, Thompson, and Romney as my top three. Right now my candidate is Thompson, so the results match my voting interests.
EDIT: I took the other quiz, and got Mike Huckabee as the top one, followed by John Cox and a tie between Paul, Thompson, and Tancredo.

Isn't Thompson that conservative nutcase? Or is that Romney?

I got Guiliani on top with 45.
Then Clinton, Obama, Edwards and Kucinich, all with 34
Entirely below where Thomspon, Tancredo, one Sam Brownback with 11 points each.
Except the fact that Giuliani's on top (with only 45, though) my list seems a little odd. I suppose it's because I'm right leaning, but not socially conservative.

Aparently he just won the Nevada straw poll. This is a good thing.
I dont much care for Neveda

It's an irrelevant thing. No one should doubt that Ron Paul has a small core of deeply devoted followers- enough to win many unknown straw polls like this. However, in scientific polling, Paul rarely gets more than a blip.Originally Posted by Lemur

I'm still freaking out from the news that Nevada is now part of the Midwest. When did that happen? Why didn't Wisconsin get the memo?
Lemur, you've never seen a proper map of Texas is all. In their efforts to put in enough detail about the center of the meaningful universe (Texas) some other bits were a little distorted -- similar to the thing with Greenland covering half the map in the old flat projections. So, you see, Strike's labeling is good enough from a Texan perspective.![]()
BTW
3-way for Hunter, Tancredo and Thompson for me at 42 each. McCain a 40. None of them agree with me on energy policy, apparently.

I've heard Paul speak. He's a freakin' lunatic. I do like that he's from Texas, though.

Far be it from me to correct a Texan. If a member of the lone star state declares, say, California to be in the Deep South, who am I to contradict? I'm just a cheese-eating snow-state northerner, after all.
Good news, Strike. Your man Paul is actually being shown on some of the polls now. I've no idea what his candidacy will amount to, but it should be interesting to see.
What does everyone see in Romney?

Paul pulled in $5 million in 3rd quarter contributions, almost as much as McCain. Other candidates are starting to get worried, he may pull support away from them in crucial states. He is rising, but unlikely to challenge Hizzoner or Romney unless something really weird happens.

I actually think Paul has a shot at winning the Republican ticket, though he's not the favorite right now. Evidently, he's the only candidate in the field that pulled in more donations in the 3rd quarter than the 2nd quarter, indicating pretty strong growth there. Furthermore, none of the republican candidates besides him are exactly stellar runaways.
As for the surveys:
1st survey: top candidate is Dennis Kusinich with 43. Lowest was a tie between Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson, both of whom I got a score of 1 with.
2nd survey: a tie between Kusinich and Mike Gravel at 66.13%. Lowest was John McCain at .35%.
Now I know for sure why I get along with CR so well.![]()

I'd be all for Paul if he tempered a few of his wackier ideas (return to the gold standard!) and wasn't so darn isolationist. Apparently he recently attended a gun rights conference where he was surrounded by private citizens openly carrying firearms and acted like it was any other speech location. Can you see any other candidate doing that?

To me he seems like the Republican version of Hillary. It disgusts me that those two are leading in the poles. The worst part is that I'm 3 months too young to vote in the next election. I'm thinking of applying to at least one foreign college because I can't stand the thought of living in a country run by either of those two. *peeks at Lemur's most recent thread* New Zealand is looking like a pretty nice alternative to the US.Originally Posted by Rythmic

Heh, I still won't be voting for him just because some online survey with rather limited question options says I should. Personally, I think Paul is the best of the Republicans, just as long as the rest of the white house keeps a bit of a limit on some of his more eccentric ideas, as you stated earlier. Similarly, I won't vote for Gravel, although the guy can be a riot at times during his speeches. If I had to vote for someone right now, I'd probably pick...meh, I can't decide yet, I still don't particularly like any of the candidates, even the dems. Obama's foreign policy is subpar at best, Hilary's too closely tied to Bill for my tastes, Edwards is, well, just a no. And quite frankly, to be realistic, none of the other candidates even have a chance. Similarly, I have issues with the Republicans as well, especially Romney and Thompson, mostly due to idealogical conflictions, and Romney's dispicable "Republicans should act like Republicans" ad. Paul's about the only republican I would support.Originally Posted by Crazed Rabbit
