2 am across Europe I think.

Funny that you get to 2 am twice in the same night really. Talk about Déjà vu.

On a more serious note, I read that the EU is considering removing the DST altogether. What do you think about that (or would that be better suited for the backroom?)

It's an archaic and arcane absurdity which has long since lost it's utility.

There was a good article in Harper's mentioning the date change around this time last year. Have to go see if I still have that one.

I think it's a good thing, personally, saves on lightbulbs else and it means I can go running an hour later than I could last week. As to the EU changing it I don't think they can do that pan-Europe, at least not at the moment.

If the EU does that, (and leaves the great British Sausage alone,) I for one will welcome our new European overlords.

Although in fact if the UK would just admit that GMT was a mistake and come onto European time that would also be fine.

I think we should stick with GMT +1 all year round, I much prefer having the light in the evenings. People talk about the safety of kids going to school, but I think that making them walk in the dark would impose a useful evolutionary pressure. Road deaths amongst children will drop markedly within a few hundred generations, mark my words.

I really don't get the point of even more daylight when I'm still in bed, then having to come home from work in the dark...

But, yeah, the Neo-Darwinian argument could do with being applied to some of the kids round here

I'm starting to fail to see the point of this thing. How does it help us anyhow?

It was nice to "fall back" this morning/afternoon. I woke up at 1:30 (12:30) and didn't miss brunch for once.

It was imposed in the wars to enable factory workers to work longer without needing artifcal lighting (thus saving much needed electricty).
