    Default Word/Character Limit

All forums I know of have a limit on the maximum number of words and/or characters in a single post. I've looked all over and cannot find that info for the Org. I suppose I could test it by posting something absurdly long, but I figured it would be better to simply ask.

What is the word and/or character limit on individual posts?

I remember frogbeastegg thanking TosaInu for raising the limit for one of her guides, so you could look at that for an illustration. I am not sure if the raise was confined to her posts only, but I would doubt it.

    Hello,

It's not confined to frogbeastegg. The 41 pages BeginnersGuide fits in one post.

Yes, it's been raised several times due to my scarily long guides. The change is global so everyone benefits. It's a character limit, and AFAIK it includes spaces in the count. The Beginner's Guide with spaces included comes to a shade over 120,000 characters.

BTW, one thing I have learned from experience: the more you put into a post the longer it will take to upload. There's a time limit; put too much on and you'll go to a timed out page. Sometimes the post itself makes it safely onto the server, sometimes not. It depends where it times out; the forum needs to load the post and topic for you to view, and long posts slow things down. Multiple long posts in a topic increases the loading time still further. For this reason it can be better to make many, shorter posts instead of a single long one.

Of course, I class 6-8 pages in point 12 Times New Roman in MS Word as a short post, so don't get the impression that anything much longer than the average post will clog the system.

Beautiful, thanks. The thing I have to post is currently 758,793 characters long (with spaces) and growing daily, but it can easily be broken down into chunks that are 120,000 or less.

Something that probably won't be posted for quite some time but will be a great read when it is. :D

It's the Chronicles of the Illuminati, which is essentially all our IC communications to each other. It's not a write-up in any manner, just something I started doing many months ago, since I thought there was some excellent stuff that no one else would otherwise see. Of course, I didn't expect it to be this long when I started compiling it. If I had known that it would clock in at 400 pages in a 12 point Word doc, I probably would have skipped it. Given the length, I'll be impressed if anyone reads the thing at all. It will be posted when KOTR is done.

I will. I already have my suspicions about this group and I can't wait to see what really happened and who was really part of it.

I, for one, will definitely be interested to see what's been going on behind the scenes.
