    Question 1.2 Fixes list

    Hey guys,

    I used to read these forums all the time (and play M2TW!) until about five months ago when I had to leave the country

    I finally have a gaming computer again and an internet connection to annoy people, and you guys are my first victims! Weeey, I hear you say! :)

    When I left, the 1.2 patch was about to come out. I never tested it and was playing er...1.0 or 1.1 with:

    • Pikes fix - to make pikemen not draw their swords as soon as anyone looks at them
    • Shield fix - to make anyone with a shield not DIE as soon as anyone looks at them
    • Ballista towers fix - the whole "build a cannon tower that ends up shooting ballista bolts" problem
    • Two-hander fix - which everyone said I should have :)


    Are these still necessary? Where can I find them? There used to be a sticky post listing them but I can't seem to track it down anymore. I saw the 1.2/1.3 bug list and it said there are now stats problems because of the shields and two-hander fixes.

    If all this has just been answered just a page down on the forum, I will happily take all the verbal abuse you can throw at me :) I did look, but obviously did not find anything.

    I used to be right on top of all the developments but five or so months being away have made me lose track of EEEEVERYTHING.

    Pikes are not fixed completely although they do hold the pike formation for longer and there are threads on how to use them most effectively involving Guard Mode etc.

    Shields are fixed, they no longer mistakenly give a negative value in melee.

    Not sure about the ballista towers.

    Two-handed units are fixed, although they still struggle against cavalry.
    At the end of the day politics is just trash compared to the Gospel.

    Pikes are still somewhat useless unless you micromanage them. Pike fix thus may still be useful in some cases.

    Towers are fixed.

    Shields are fixed but now most unit stats are highly unbalanced. Quite a few balancing mods out there though. Wouldn't recommend the official one from kingdoms though personally.

    2H units are maybe slightly better than previously and now eat horses for breakfast. They remain utterly useless against infantry in melee though. Only decent for the initial charge and then a throw-away unit except against cavalry.

    Lots of other stuff left unfixed as you can tell by the buglist, and its unlikely they'll ever be fixed.

    Thanks for the replies guys! I'll play unpatched :)

    Ongoing bugs and lacking fixes aside...M2:TW is still unique and one of the best strategy games I know. It's good enough to be played for another few years, I'm that kinda guy ;)
