Cool Good Ole Rock 'n Roll thread

Nobody's Wife is back. Good God, she's alive and kicking.

Amid all the (c)rap that passes for music these days, it's good to hear some decent slick again, with a mucho macho horn section and a real-life drummer who actually handles sticks and skins.

Any other clips in the same vein? Hard, straight, uncompromising oldfashioned rock music? Between ZZ Top and Bruce Springsteen there must be enough badass rock 'n' roll clips available to fill a thread.

Post 'em if you got 'em. Let's see if we can get this one stickied.

It says 'good ole rock 'n' roll', Fragony. Not tomorrow's release of the umpteenth André Hazes rehash, so sorry.

Now, if you have anything to contribute...

Yes, it seems like I have contracted dyslexia, for some reason it appeared you posted this yesterday and it was too late to edit it without it appearing unedited. So I thaught AdrianII must think I said something smart somewhere and makes a witty reply nobody and most of all us don't get. They should pay me for this stuff.

I always thought this song rocked eighteen times harder than it ought to. It's not old-fashioned, though, and the video has nothing to with the band (tribute video by some student or another). But you still get a sense of just how badass the song is.

    That clear enough?

Oh, and I haven't been drinking.

    P.S. Nice score Lemur.

    Wow... that's actually really good.

I been postin' these for a while now. But what the hell? Once more.

The MC5: Kick Out the Jams, Motha *****!

Otis Redding: Ready, Steady, Go! It's a two-part, ass-kickin' performance (don't bother watching the intro, though; they ruin a perfectly good song with some kind of wierd, cheezy mid-60's pop video. Rest is good, though.

The Electric Flag: Killing Floor. A sound-only "video," but a good rockin' song nonetheless.

p.s. It's about damn time we had a thread like this.

I finally located a copy of that song, Super Bon Bon, that actually has the band in the video. Not that there's anything wrong with Brandon Lee, but still.

    Did somebody mention Bruce Springsteen?

Earlier this year some nice chap put up his entire, legendary old skool show YouTube.

I always thought Weezer's Hash Pipe rocked pretty darn hard.

    -edit-

And Cracker's Low is great. I fell for it the minute I heard the line comparing being in love to being "like some junkie cosmonaut."

    Newer stuff:

Brakes, All Night Disco Party (this song rocks harder than you think)

    -edit-

Quietus, what the heck? Only one of those songs is even vaguely rock. I mean, I love the Junior Wells clip like crazy, but it ain't rock. Wilco, I guess, is sort of rock-ish.

I thought AdrianII was looking for the same upbeat stuff on his link (nevermind ZZ Top or "teh Boss".)

Let me put it this way.

After five days of hard work, you go to the beach with your buddies early on a Saturday morning. The sun comes up, everybody's joking, smoking, sipping coffee, every road sign says "party!!!", and you have sixty miles of empty highway ahead of you. What score do you put on, turn up and bang your head to?

That's the score I want people to put up here.

Well I dont have links but a few come to mind:

    2. Iron Maiden: Power slave

    3. Primus: Pork Soda

    4. Sound track to Pulp Fiction

Sabotage, not old fashioned, but still kicking. Plus the video is soooo high on the cheese scale.

Hey Man, Nice Shot is good, but you might not be looking for songs with these tempo changes.

For plain rock and roll, not much beats AC-DC

If driving, do not listen to the Helmet's Meantime album, you will end up going 100 mph. Unsung

Filter, B-Boys, good stuff. Me like.

Here's a solid rocking song: Morphine's Buena. Not a very good video, but you can still tell the song kicks heiney.

    -edit-

I see we're neglecting chick rock. Shame on us! Let's fix that:

    Gimme Shelter

And Paint it Black (over a good montage of Vietnam war movies).

    And White Room with Clapton.

And finally, Outlaw Torn by Metallica, with full symphony backup.

Atomic Punk, old school Van Halen.

Black Sunshine, White Zombie with Iggy Pop.

Pipeline, Ventures' surf song covered by Anthrax. Sorry about the vid, it was the best I could find, real song starts at 0:15.

Love Rollercoaster, by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, any song with kazoos is a good song.

So da Rabbit is a Stones-man. I knew it.

To me, the closest thing to a religious experience is a well-oiled rock 'n' roll band.

This band was hyped as the future of metal. However they sounded just out place and understandably got lost between the grunge explosion and the death throes of hair-metal.

Absolutely no contest when it comes to motoring along the highway: Deep Purple. Perfect.

Other favourites in that regard would be The Undertones, The Ramones, and Smashing Pumpkins.
